Since we ought to have at least one choice that's not just a modification of the current flag:

I'd like to have a flag that's easily convertible to SVG, please, so no gradients. In addition such a flag would be hard to construct from cloth.

I'm doubting between Scott's and Ryan's flag. Iskander's flags look nice, but it doesn't feel 'Shirerithian' (more for a subdivision).

The black part of Scott's flag doesn't sit well with me; otherwise I like it. But my choice still rests on my first submission (rays + star).

The black part of the flag certainly fits. There's many black/gold flags; the HRE standard was black on gold. It's one of the few choices of flags that doesn't violate the rule of tincture.

Unlike any other flag, it has a symbol that has meaning, timeless meaning throughout Shireroth's history - the explosion, representing BO0/\/\0Omism, both a Republican and Imperial symbol. The black can stand for gunpowder.

The flag needs to be simple because remember, the point of a flag is to be viewed at a distance and be easily recognizable. A multitude of colors does not look good at a distance. One of the flag designs could be a pretty graphic on a computer, but look ugly as an actual flag when used purposely. And we're trying to design a flag, not a computer graphic for a website.

Most importantly, the flag is aesthetically pleasing (or at least the most tolerable) and sits well with outsiders - I tested the various flags on people who do not know of Shireroth and this one (as well as my flag) got the best reactions. This is the most important reason and the reason why we're changing the flag in the first place - an aesthetically pleasing flag, which does not embarrass outsiders from looking at our nation.

Black and Red being anarchist colours it is perfect for celebrating the part Yardistan played in the formation and identity of the place.

I rather like Ardy's design. It's stylish, sophisticated, refined, and has a certain visual balance to it that is pleasing to the eye.
