IC, that is. OOC I'm still going to be around; and indeed, I'll still post from this account for all the various NPCs its accumulated. Andreas the Wise just won't be around anymore. I want to play some new characters, and needed to get myself out of the way so I don't mess them around too much.
How you choose to handle this OOC is up to you. I'm very happy to continue as MiniTrade; and can just continue it from this account if the Kaiser doesn't object. My new account will be very IC (kinda like Gaelen III before he resigned) and I'd prefer not to give it any OOC advantages it hasn't earned IC. So yeah ... up to you.

The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy
And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

.... huh? Honstly.. I think nothing will change. According to Imperial... Tradition if not law, there is no distinction between Andreas the character and Andreas.. the.. you. You'll keep all titles, positions and what not.

As long as the universe doesn't fold in on itself and implode in consequence... then there is no objection here with you doing an "Ari/Gaelen".

Well, that's a thoroughly different ... tradition from the other micronations I'm involved in, so its nice to have that cleared up.Erik Mortis wrote:.... huh? Honstly.. I think nothing will change. Your niftiness: The universe will not implode if we only have an OOC MiniTrade, so I'll continue in that capacity. Al'Magroth is more there for SCOWL than anything else.

Re: I hereby reisgn
Is it? Our sector of micronations has run that way since pretty much the beginning. Alternate logins have been treated as roleplaying constructs, never as different personas. When I was using the SaiKar login, I never tried to hide that it was me posting behind it, nor asked for people to treat it differently, nor tried to have it be a different entity for purposes of owning land or money or anything. It was just the login I used.Andreas the Wise wrote:Well, that's a thoroughly different ... tradition from the other micronations I'm involved in, so its nice to have that cleared up.Erik Mortis wrote:.... huh? Honestly I find the way you treat your different logins as different people just flat out weird. It's one thing to use a different login for roleplaying purposes for some ongoing story but it's something else to be emigrating as one persona and immigrating as another, even if you do it all without ill intent. It's trying to turn a roleplaying thing into a legal one and that's a bit outside how we operate.
Our sector here has always walked that extremely narrow band between a too-serious government simulation and a too-unstructured roleplay. We're not so stuffy that we can't have people switch logins for fun, but neither are we about to start treating different logins as different people with different histories and personalities, at least out of roleplay threads. In Gralus the lines are blurred so badly that sometimes you can't tell, but here in Shireroth it's a lot more black and white where this sort of thing is acceptable and where it isn't.
And I hope that "I'm not Andreas anymore. Just his NPCs." thing in your sig at Gralus is there for irony or as an inside joke, because if it's serious it doesn't make a lick of sense. You can't be playing as a non-playable character.

Re: I hereby reisgn
Well it is a different login for roleplaying purposes. And because of the kerfuffle raised (and the fact this account has access to SEP and IAC, and on Gralus is the chief admin) I've just kept this one for OOC purposes and am keeping that one for purely roleplaying. But its a bit more than "Oh, Erik's changed from Erik VII to Erik VIII." I'm trying an experiment; a bit like one Bayen tried with Phineas (where he introduced the Phineas character, said it was him initially and then proceeded to do things that the Bayen character wouldn't, and said afterwards it was an experiment to see how far one person could get by the power of their words alone, without the pent up authority and auctoritas and armies others hold). I really hadn't thought immigrating would cause such an ... effect.
But if you haven't noticed, in the what, two years now I've been here, I've always been Andreas the Wise. The Baron of Atterock wasn't Andreas - it was Andreas the Wise. The Count of Melangia wasn't Andreas - it was Andreas the Wise (or Cla'Udi when Andreas the Wise was busy elsewhere, eg during wars). The Minister for Trade wasn't Andreas - Andreas the Wise - hence I found it necessary to ask if you chose to allow me to continue in the position OOC even though IC I've left. And yes, the Andreas the Wise character is very similar to Andreas OOC - perhaps too similar (Bayen's criticism is that I haven't developed the character from when he arrived three years ago. I don't think that's quite fair, but there's some truth in it).
So I decided to stop playing as Andreas the Wise, and try some other characters for a bit; and so it didn't seem right to keep the account name that has been so long associated with him. You don't have to treaty Al'Magroth or Graham Lot as not controlled by me OOC if you don't want to; but I'm treating them as IC accounts and so I'm carefully trying to avoid using them OOC etc, and would prefer you didn't treat the characters as an extension of Andreas the Wise, because they're most definitely not. In my mind, at least, it seemed a noticeable difference between Erik coming back as his grandson; and two entirely different characters of very different origins etc. And even if Mr Lot says he was Straylightian originally, it would be pushing it to claim that Al'Magroth has always been a Shirithian, and so immigration seemed logical. But fine, ignore the experiment if you will. Just when things start to get exciting, don't expect OOC requests to work.
Oh, and the NPC bit - well, 'Minor Character' would probably be a better way of phrasing it, but in Gralan lingo NPC has come to refer to anyone who is not the main character, who always has the same name as the account. So I'm not Andreas the Wise anymore - just the various accumulated minor characters of that account.
