Vanchauslurk Honors Resolution Veto Protest

Yeah. I wanna formally protest the Kaiser's use of a Veto on this matter. A resolution for one thing isn't binding. So the Kaiser just basically told the Landsraad to go fuck itself and not ever try to make a suggestion.
I encourage more rebellion. (not just lame recwaring...)

I agree with Erik. I fail to see the point in vetoing something that isn't even binding. So, to reply, fuck you too.

Agree with the above. The Landsraad is technically completely unnecessary because people can just suggest things to the Kaiser and the Kaiser can gauge public opinion himself and implement them. We keep it around because it's good to have a second channel, it's good to have a body that can make official recommendations, and it's a nice part of the simulation. The Kaiser throwing out a Landsraad resolution just because it's not too binding and there are potentially other channels makes the Landsraad useless.
PS: Mike and Erik, can you rec-march your rec-forces toward Leonardo or at least Shirekeep so I can have some backup?

I just gotta register an OrBat, find the energy to care, and then post my action. Could take 3-100 hours.

The Kaiser should just dismiss the Landsraad. It's always more fun that way.

Scott, My forces are across the river from Shirekeep still. Waiting for help.
What also pisses me off. If I did this as Kaiser.. people would be on my ass instantly for how heavy handed it is. Now the Kaiser has done it... Barely a peep.

I would probably get something about Cyberia, how I take things too seriously, and then a patronizing pat on the head.
Erik, I'm speaking in the Landsraad, which is my right as a Duke. You still have the vote.

I was under no obligation to, similarly neither were any of my immediate predecessors, so we are starting with a false premise here.WHEREAS there are citizens of this nation that deserve to be awarded for their service, and
WHEREAS the Kaiser has not yet done so,
As I said at the time
Greg has already been rewarded, the rest of you have been bountified to the extent that any additional honour is simply a bonus.
However that is not to say that I was hostile to the idea.
And Erik, your statement thatI shall perhaps be generous and consider these gentlemen named above as being nominated for the aforementioned awards, something which is certainly worth some consideration
Is rather contrary to your sentiment the day before.Erik Mortis wrote:A resolution for one thing isn't binding. So the Kaiser just basically told the Landsraad to go fuck itself and not ever try to make a suggestion.
A statement which incidentally swayed my hand towards the application of the first veto. There you go. Blame Erik, I'd have let it through without realising the implication of Landsraad supremacy if he had kept his gob shut.Erik Mortis wrote:Yes, but this shows the Kaiser that it's more then just a few people. It's the Landsraad who wants these things. One or two people, even duke asking the Kaiser... MIGHT get his attention. A full resolution passed through the Landsraad has some clout to it. It would also mean a lot more if it passed unanimously. Thus you support would go a long way to helping us in this matter.
Again it is not that I am willing to see these people rewarded for their services and I would welcome their nomination but I am not going to be bounced or coerced into doing so.Malliki Tosha wrote:WHEREAS it is the view of the Landsraad that some people deserve to be rewarded for their service,

I never said it had ACTUAL power.. just that it meant more as a statement coming from the Landsraad. Different kinds of power. Different kinds of use. Something a Kaiser should know about.

Goldshire isn't amazingly happy about the veto, but thinks everyone is blowing this at least a lil out of proportion, especially in light of the decree essentially doing exactly what we were about to demand. Honestly I'm not sure I agree with all of those awards and wonder if the Kaiser doesn't as well and just did the decree to shut us up. But then again, I don't feel very strongly one way or the other, so in either case... meh!

I think everyone is just trying to start a fight to start a fight. This is stupid. Everyone get back to work.
