Questioning the validity of a claim...
In looking into improving the cultural standing of Lac Glacei, and sifting through the decrees made over the years, Jacobus made several additions from Cyberia into the overall territory. This long list often accompanied his titles. King of Jaris, Emperor of such and such, blah, blah, blah. Anyways, to cut to the chase, I started looking into some of these names to try and get a perspective on potential cultural development.
Alara is actually another micronation that existed some time ago.
So are Greater Baldonios, Vivaldia, Alterra, Aspyxnia, Burnisia, Edan, and Formiga.
So the question I have is: Should I seek to pursue these claims or to dismiss them?
Considering Lac Glacei doesn't even have any land presently, it wouldn't hurt to write off some of these places entirely.
Obviously some of these places were one-man holes that disappeared a decade ago. No-one is around to claim them. But nonetheless, it is someone else's creation. So I'm left with a bit of a conflicting opinion on the matter and thus request The Grace of some Kaiserial input.

This is Yardistan we're talking about ...
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy
And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

An Imperial Rescript in response to the petition of the Grand Director of Lac Glacei.
As far as we are concerned the titles cited above (Greater Baldonios, Vivaldia, Alterra, Aspyxnia, Burnisia, Edan, etcetera) are defunct and can be allowed to fall out of use if they add nothing to the background narrative you are seeking to create for Lac Glacei. Your discretion is advised and if you can find a genuine cause or benefit from their inclusion then you may be free to do so but the means by which the collator of these titles, a certain Loki who is of our knowledge, came by them are almost certainly dubious and spurious. Therefore we see no benefit in continuing the claim to the aforementioned unless the chain of acquisition can be shown and proven.

But what, if any, power does it wield?

Re: Questioning the validity of a claim...
Look the Kaiser's word is law, essentially, but this question is a matter that isn't really one that warrants its own special decree, but it is just an answer that defines the matter, and if anyone tries to stop Ryan from acting in accordance with what I have suggested will have their hand cut off... for the lulz. That is the power it holds. Aside from that it is a term I like, one I feel adds a bit of gravitas and if I feel rescripts given to petitions and questions add any value I will probably give them official standing by decree and keep a register of them.
Happy?

Re: Questioning the validity of a claim...
How is that different from an Imperial Proclamation - ie a non-binding statement of official imperial opinion?

I think a rescript is a potential order. That means, if you break it, you get an order. If you don't nothing happens.

That should settle it.Rescript
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A rescript is a document that is issued not on the initiative of the author, but in response (it literally means 'written back') to a specific demand made by its addressee. It does not apply to more general legislation etcetera.
Overview
It may take various forms, from a formal document of an established type, such as a Papal Bull, to the forwarding of the demand with a simple mention by way of decision, something like "rejected" or "awarded", either to the party concerned or to the competent executive office to be carried out.
The word originated from the Roman imperial court, which often issued rescripts, in many cases prompted by its many governors and other officials. The other main field of application is the papal Roman Curia, which adopted many Roman administrative terms and practices. The Massachusetts appellate courts issue rescripts to the lower courts; these are the equivalent of mandates in federal appellate practice.
By analogy it is also applied to similar procedures in other contexts, such as the Chinese and Japanese imperial courts, or even before the Roman empire.
Papal rescripts
Main article: Papal rescripts
Rescripts are responses of the pope or a Sacred Congregation, in writing, to queries or petitions of individuals. Papal rescripts concern the granting of favours or the administration of justice under canon law.
This article incorporates text from the entry Rescript in the public-domain Catholic Encyclopedia of 1913.
And regarding said rescript, I shall take appropriate follow-up measures in accordance with Imperial Opine. I thank His Niftiness the Kaiser for his time and feedback on the matter.

Not to nitpick, but it's "Imperial Niftiness" or just "Niftiness", not "Majesty".Ryan wrote:I thank His Majesty the Kaiser
