Kaisers since Anandja I
Kaisers since Anandja I
Since I'm now the SC representative for Ashkenatza, I suppose I should get to grips with some of the local history around here, in the nation in which it's hosted. Last time I had a shufti at Shireroth, and we were about to shoot the **** out of each other over Elwyn, Anandja I was on the throne. I'm just wondering who the most recent Kaisers were since then?

Oh. Anandja I left the throne to Gaelen III, who left it to the current murdere... sorry, Kaiser, Aurangzeb.

Re: Kaisers since Anandja I
Cheers! Is each Kaiser one citizen of Shireroth, or do you have some citizens who take the post many times with different personas?

Re: Kaisers since Anandja I
The latter. Generally you serve for three-ish months and pick an heir to abdicate the throne to. It can be yourself, Erik's done that in the past, but Kaisering yourself has been out of fashion for years.
It used to be that for many Kaisers their bloodline stands for which person they actually were: For instance, the Line of Mortis is Erik, Grifos is Nick (the Yardistani), Ly'Technomaezj is me, etc.. It's never been terribly accurate, though. For instance, Gaelen II, insofar as he actually was called Gaelen II, (I'm seriously not sure about this - it's a bit of an inconvenience that the SSHIT List of Kaisers conflicts with actual Shirithian history in the early Third Era) was certainly not me. Ari 0 was, though. Mors IV was Shyriath rather than Erik, Yarad I was Eoin rather than Scott, and by the present day the bloodline has pretty much become just a piece of flavour that you choose for roleplaying.
By a quick count Erik has had maybe ten-ish Kaiserships. That was just from looking at the list and trying to remember who everyone was from the names, I'd say it's more of a lowball than a highball estimate. Scott, I and, technically, James have had three, Greg and Jake two, and... hm, not sure whether Ikol I was Erik or Nick, but I'm gonna go with Erik (Wyltheow was kind of a big deal as it was Nick finally being The Man instead of the guy trying to tear him down). So, here's all of the Shirithians who have had one Kaisership in the nation's history:
Aurefiction, Harvey, Nick the Yardistani, Shyriath, Eoin, Braden (usurper to the throne), Bill3000, Hypatia's Mom, Hypatia*, Jonas, Hesam, Ric, Corey, Icebreaker, Mike Fors, Ardashir.
And that's not counting Ruling Stewards, some of whom have been pretty significant, for instance Nikkolo I.
* They were subsequent, too. That's right, we actually had a transfer of Kaiserial power from a parent to a child in Shireroth. Too bad it was during a time we were otherwise pretty much dead
.

Re: Kaisers since Anandja I
It doesn't take a lot of Kaiserships to form a pattern in Shireroth. My Kaiserships are 23 rulers apart (if you count in just the right kind of schizophrenic semi-consistent way), James only needed to be Lacrymosa twice to be forever known as the guy who rules for a passing moment before abdicating the throne to a Los (Scott) Kaiser. You could be the guy whose rule always heralds the coming of a great national rebirth and the opening of a new EraJonas wrote:My Kaisership was too short. I want to rule longer then one day.
Personally I'd say the War of the Wylthean Succession was something of a high point. Unfortunately most of the historical record from it has been lost, but if you have the time you can always read the novel.Aster wrote:Good lord - I had NO IDEA that Shireroth had been around for that long and had that many Kaisers! I need to be Kaiser again. Gotta keep my count up. I also like to be Kaiser about every 5th or so round. Fine tuning and all. and help keep things from getting to nuts. Bit of the Conservative element. Though my reigns have been getting briefer.

Re: Kaisers since Anandja I
Yeah, there have been loadsa Kaisers. I'd really like it if each of the Shirereithan Civil Wars could be catalogued, though.
Admittedly most of them are repetitive and always end the same way, but some are more interesting than others.
Like that time when I declared K'Tzuni independent, then blew up a dam, then flounced off 'cos I couldn't be Kaiser?
They were good times.

Re: Kaisers since Anandja I
You'd have been Kaiser long ago if you'd just kept a Shirithian citizenship and tossed those other ones out
. So would Andreas, FWIW. Allot and Leo have been bouncing about the upper government positions for a while and I would neither mind nor be surprised by the Elwynnese rule of Shireroth continuing on from Ardy to the two of them (the only question is, which one first
). We need more Kaisers!

I might consider it in say, 6 months. Depends how Nelaga and Gralus are doing at the time.

And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

That's why the law is there. For security. Our logic is, if you are willing to be ONLY of Shireroth, you probably ought not to be Kaiser. Maybe not fair statement for all, but it does give us a modicum of protection.

I think it makes sense. It makes it more likely the Kaiser will devote proper attention to Shireroth. Other nations would do it too, but they don't have the citizen base/awesomeness factor to keep it going like Shireroth can.
