Subdivision Alliance Repeal

The Landsraad resolves to repeal the following: (Lawbook, Part II, Section F, Subsection 1)

1. Alliances
a. All Duchies are allied to each other through the Imperial Government.
b. Barons may not make alliances with any other subdivision that is not the Duchy to which they are subordinate.
c. Duchies may not create any manner of alliance with other subdivisions that are not their subordinate.
d. Subdivisions may make no alliance with powers outside of Shireroth.

And replace it with:

1. Alliances
a. All Duchies are allied to each other through the Imperial Government.
b. Subdivisions may make no alliance with powers outside of Shireroth.

It never seemed right that duchies are almost encouraged to make war against each other but not legally allowed to make peace. It could also be twisted in any number of ways. Saying a statement such as "The subdivision of X supports the subdivision of Y in this effort" could be reasonably thought of as being an alliance between the two, depending on the level of support.

The two statements about all duchies being allied through the Imperial Government and the ban on any sort of arrangement with powers outside of Shireroth are wise though and should remain.

Though my Duke may smack me for this. I have to agree, especially since I was the one who made the law, and the reason for it is long gone. There was political reason for this, and reasons of national stability. At the time I saw it as needed.
