Meh, more making light of than making fun of really. It's a shit thing to go through but we all do, and for the most part we have to put it down to experience, laugh it off and move on (or plot bitter spiteful revenge, whichever is more appropriate, not that I would ever stoop so low, oh no...).

In all honesty, its neither you, nor women in general. It's individuals. Now this is an assumption so please don't take it personally if I'm wrong. In my experience, the 20 to 25 range is difficult because people are at different levels of maturity depending on their experience and background. I also found that some of the girls I dated at that time always tried to portray themselves as something they weren't. Those are the ones you have to be careful with since they still look at their surroundings like a drama without implications. Most girls in their late twenties and onward tend to level out, especially if they've had their own bad experiences to draw from.

As for the direct question of why girls date jackholes, the answer is crude but simple. Girls who want idiots for boyfriends are not looking for anything emotionally involved. They want someone they can sleep with but have no expectations about. Its the WYSIWYG of dating. If it helps you at all, the girl usually gets emotionally attached and has her heart broken, because those jackhole guys really are only interested in equally jackhole girls. Anyone else they play around with is merely 'something to do.' So if she left you for someone else, she'll likely be regretting it in a few months.

As everyone else said, there's plenty out there, so don't worry, these things take time. Remember, the right girl usually picks you before you're even aware of it.

That's because with the exception of Ardy (who I've been complaining to for about ten years, bless his everlasting patience), none of you know me very well. Despite what I might post here, I am not a one-dimensional nuisance with a juvenile and pestering sense of humour. I'm actually capable of compassion and empathy, I just choose not to be emotionally involved in a game on most occasions. I suppose I've earned the reputation I foster here, just be aware that occasionally I am good for more than crass jokes.

As a girl, I'd like to share my opinion:

In my experience, girls don't typically like jerks. They do like people with an edge to them, though. I'm one of those and every girl I know to any degree of intimacy is, too (though that may just be correlation). At the same time, I don't like jerks, period, which reduces the amount of people I feel hilariously attracted to to a small, near-insignificant trickle, because unfortunately, 'people with an edge to them' are to about 98% jerks.

Frankly, a good friend of mine once summarised it quite succinctly:

"I like to be treated like a whore in the bedroom and a lady everywhere else."
