Yardistani militia Topic

Post by Gman Russell »

INTRODUCTION

Hello! As CinC for all Yardistani Militia, I propose that Yardistan, which is composed mostly of islands, focus its military machine primarily on naval units, with its ground forces being entirely marine in nature (I can easily compose a command structure for the marine corps forces as most of the work is allready done for Nelaga, and needs only alittle tweaking for use in Shireroth). An air force will also be fairly important as air supremacy can turn the tide of battle very fast. I've estimated the entire population of yardistan to be about 5,270,000 citizens (yes, I did the estimations on paper with square mileage versus density on an island by island basis), and through more measurements found that the Unites States of America uses about three percent of it's population for active duty in a military branch. Using this as a basis for our own population, I decided that a reasonable number would be about 100,000 to 150,000 active duty personnel.

YARDISTANI RESOURCES

Yardistan has many resources, only some of them relate to the military. They are as follows:

-Yardistan Proper has uranium, which when depleted can be used to create nasty bullets and shells, as well as create stronger armor. It can also make atomic bombs, as well as fuel nuclear reactors. Yardistan Proper also has a small mountain, and can house strong underground bunkers.

-Florencia is usefull for military operations simply by having large tracts of land and a large mountain. Large tracks of land will allow large military bases as well as large seaports, and a giant mountain means we can build underground bunkers as well.

-Northern Absentia has iron, and when combined with Western Absentia's chromium, create steel. Hmmm, I wonder how we can use large amounts of THAT...

-Most every county has some kind of food production, which makes feeding our military that much easier.

-We have/can make oil platforms to the north of So-Sara and to the east of Florencia.

Military command structure

I have broken down the Yardistani Navy into three Carrier Strike Groups and twelve Expeditionary Strike Groups, which number 26,160 sailors total (8,720 per CSG, and 3000 per ESG).

The Great Western Sea Carrier Strike Group is charged with protecting the Barony of Absentia, and the greater Shirerithian nation at large, from all seaborne threats that come from the west. The baron of Absentia is considered the fleet commander and has direct control over their actions unless over-ruled by the duke or the YCinC. The baron of Absentia will also retain the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force, which numbers about 20,000 total (including air and logistics support). He also retains four Expeditionary Strike Groups, which transport and support the marine corps forces overseas.

The Cosimo Sea Carrier Strike Group is charged with protecting the Barony of the United Isles, and the greater Shirerithian nation at large, from all seaborne threats that come from the south. The baron of the United Isles is considered the fleet commander and has direct control over their actions unless over-ruled by the duke or the YCinC. The baron of the United Isles will also retain the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, which also numbers about 20,000 total (including air and logistics support). He also retains four Expeditionary Strike Groups, which transport and support the marine corps forces overseas.

The Foreign Sea Carrier Strike Group has a unique problem facing it. The barony of Vorpmadal is split between the county of Lac Glacei, and the county of Mar Sara, which are literally thousands of miles apart. To solve this dilemma, it was decided that the Foreign Sea Carrier Strike Group would be placed in the Orange Sea area to not only protect Lac Glacei, but also to have a strike force capable of reacting fast to a far away problem. As before, the baron of Vorpmadal also has a marine corps force at his command. The 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force, 20,000 strong, has four Expeditionary Strike Groups to transport and carry it wherever it needs to be as well. This force is also kept in Lac Glacei, and should Mar Sara ever need help, the Cosimo Sea Fleet is ready to defend her as well.

Each baron also retains a dedicated SEAL team (special operations) at his command. They number about 300 each.

The Duke of Yardistan alone has access to nuclear devices, and can only be used with the kaiser's direct permission (No :tomcutterhamonfire for you, Jess).

I'll go into more detail later once this is approved. I would also like each count to be able to have its own dedicated military force, but will leave the hows and whats to each count. Post below what you think about any of this, and any questions you have.

Well besides the fact that it is quite amazing all around the only thing I have a problem with is the part where Jess has nukes. I know you said that he needs the Kaiser's permission, but it is a dangerous thought none the less.

Using the naval and marine air forces. Marine Corps air forces are usually centered around ground support and logistics support, and naval forces can do it all, so I don't see a need for a seperate air force branch. Integrated air, sea, and land forces keeps things simple.

edit: I'm just setting it up so that when I re-ascend the throne, I'LL have the nukes. :)

Oh I gathered that bit. The question was more along the lines of 'what sort of aircraft, where and doing what'...

Oh good gods, you want me to name all of them?

Erm... let's see, the marine corps will proly focus on harriers for ground support, the Ospreys for medium range troop and cargo transport, the sea dragon for heavy lifting, the huey for short range cargo and troop transport, and the SuperCobra for anti-tank manuevers.

As for the Navy? Eh, not sure yet.

After a PM talk with Andreas, he says that we only have to pay for the units that will actually see combat.

SO...

Yardistan will only have to pay for 10 to 11 thousand actual combat troops for each barony (about 2,000 for each regiment, 3 rifle regiments plus a 4th artillery regiment), plus the air division plus the carrier strike groups, plus the expeditionary strike groups (4 per barony), plus the 300 man seal teams each baron will have. In short, that makes it alot cheaper.

Bacchus, PM me later about costs and such, please. :)

where Jess has nukes.
If he has nukes, then I'll have to ask Admiral Quirk to station the "Improvise" in geosync orbit until he gets rid of them.....

Let us thank the great sheep he never took the time to even check what his Barons were doing and preparing in his name.

Well, since non-nuclear ICBMs cost 5000 points (so 1000 erb), a nuke would cost at least 10 000 points, so I don't think Jess has the dough needed to get many of them ....
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.

Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus

Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy

And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

Basically, what the name says.....

In practice, eqivalent to the NCC-1701A, although it has never fired on the surface of Micras.

Threatened to a lot, but never did.......
