too few? in Kildare

Post by Austi_Scot »

Your message contains too few characters. So what is the minimum?

Yea, read the above message I get when attempting to post in Kildare - I hate it. For once I have just a little to say, not rambling on and on like I have demostrated the ability to do in previous post in the past (LOL) - and now I can't post it because I have less to say than allowed. Is this some kind of short anti-spam measure? Sort of demanding that spammers make a long spam rather than just a short post such as a URL. I even went from 98 to a needless 256 words, what is the magic mark? Is this an evil attempt to drive people out of Kildare or is my login the only one affected with this plague?

I remember that shit. Ari fixed it for me, can't remember what he did, if anything. Make sure you're at shireroth.kuroshiro.net and not shireroth2.kuroshiro.net though, that seems to be the root of most forum evil.

The limit is 1 character. If you are seeing that message on a post at least that long it means the board isn't seeing the message you submitted at all, which is a bug, though I don't yet know what would cause it. (the shireroth.kuroshiro.net vs. shireroth2.kuroshiro.net thing shouldn't cause this... though I'm thinking it's time to contact our host anyway about fixing that...) Could you elaborate the circumstances where this occurs?

I posted a . and it worked, I posted the word test and it worked. I tried both as a reply in several threads and I tried them as a new thread - both the . and the word test worked.

I've been trying to post the start of my return as I have moved about 1000 miles and found a new job and now have access to the web again - tho may not have access when I find a house and have to move out of this extended stay hotel.

The post was exactly those words, that was the basic of what it, but it wouldn't work as a reply or as a new thread. I tried my post here and it wouldn't work either. Keep getting the message: Your message contains too few characters.

(Alright, I thought about this overnight. Wondered if it might be a special character in the message - tested that - nope.
Wondered for a few more hours - then thought it might be my attempt to copy from microsoft word and paste - yup) I use to be able to do that, but not now.

Jess,

I am in hotel room with a kitchen at Extended Stay with a wireless connection until I get into a house in this city. I moved about 1000 miles for a new job. It has been about a month now but today I got a house and will be moving into it later this week or the first part of next. After that I will get a connection of my own and do my best to catch up on Shireroth.

Thanks for asking,
