Why this didn't occur to me while I was writing about the economy is a mystery. Shireroth News Network! Helloo!
I know Malarbor is our news source, but he doesn't get updated very often. I'm all for using what's in place (Malarbor) but I think we should expand on it and
a) update it more frequently so that people know what is going on in Shireroth
b) get people to pay to insert little ads
If we don't use Malarbor and create a blog or something (or another forum, I don't know. I could have my own show, I guess. AA360...) then that could work too.
Thoughts?

Re: SNN
I suggested this on Nelaga, might as well here too.
If Ari's ok with it, I think it would be immense fun to auction off the rights to update Malarbor each month. Perhaps as a blind auction where you have to pay what you bid ... The winner would then be able to update for that month, and process any adds etc. Alternatively, we process adds through MiniTrade.
There were attempts in the past to do a radio program (EBR) and charge to listen, but people aren't *that* interested in listening.

Re: SNN
I dunno, if we made a listening program we could make it interesting. It couldn't just be flat news though. Like you'd have a panel of "experts" debating about something (like on Anderson Cooper 260, from which I draw my inspiration) in the news. Example:
Host: Today Kaiser Agni I announced that Icebreaker would be his successor. We'll get into the politics of this with our panel today, Jacobus Loki, Andreas the Wise, and Malarbor. Jacobus, is this a good idea?
Jacobus: Well, you know, I think he-
Malarbor: MALARBOR DEMANDS TO BE KAISER.
Host: We'll be right back after these messages.
I like the idea of selling Malarbor rights. Although I'm not sure if auctioning is the best way to go. Because we don't want Malarbor being totally hi-jacked, right? There still needs to be some sort of relevance to Shireroth news? So...maybe we'll brainstorm that further.
I really like the listening station though, let's get on that. Then people could pay to be on the "panel", lots of opportunity.

If there's fears Malarbor might be abused, you would change it to the right to update him once, for min length a week. Knowing Shirithians, I doubt anything too bad would happen, but if it did, you could always exclude someone from future Malarbor editing.

If you organise it and find a time I'm available, I guess I'll give it a go.

Re: SNN
... you know, that was probably the most useful question that anyone's asked in Shireroth recently. It made me start writing a post about how much time it takes to track down all of the recent events of import from all across the forum... which made me realise that it'd probably be useful to have a list of all threads that someone has posted in within, say, the last week or so... which gave me a flash of enlightenment about what that active topics link is good for .Allot wrote:On a semi-related note, how come Malarbor only gets updated once a month? We move faster than that!

/ its really AWESOME!
You do realize this is all I'll be scripting while i'm in Tannous?
Do you think it will be possible to incorporate the Lottery idea into the weekly podcast? Like winning numbers and the such?

Re: SNN
That was brilliant. Really professional sounding. And you've got a good voice for radio.
You mentioned looking for some ideas. You might want to listen to KZFO, an old Antican radio show, and see if they've done anything you like. You can find it at http://www.podfeed.net/podcast/KZFO+Radio/2566

Try to skip over the bits that featured Foggy and Stephen on the bed together, they tend to be disconcerting and all too frequent.

Re: SNN
Stop mangling Malarbor's name! It's not "Marleybore" or any such foolishness! "Mal", rhymes with "pal", plus "arbor", rhymes with "harbor". Malarbor. And no, he is not going away.
I liked that song. What's the name? And I'm glad it was something short instead of those ten minute monstrosities from KZFO.

Be prepared for a cameo from yours truly. It will blow your mind! (Seriously I'm a horrible speaker. You'll want to break your computer. )
