Stormark's application for membership
Lord Primate,
I have the honour of supplying the Viking Empire of Stormark's application for membership in the Small Commonwealth.
Should a positive vote for Stormark's admission in the Commonwealth comes through, Stormark is prepared to sign and ratify the Treaty of General Membership. Other Commonwealth treaties will be discussed by the Imperial Government if Stormark's application is accepted.
I would like to make it known that Stormark recognizes the independence, sovereignty and integrity of each member State of the Commonwealth.
Attached to this letter is the Order in Council authorizing the Viking Empire's application for membership.
Please extend my greetings from the Imperial Government of Stormark to the Assembly and its honourable delegates.
Senator Andelarion
Lord Warden for the Outland
Viking Empire of Stormark

Welcome Stomark!
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.

Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy
And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

Re: Stormark's application for membership
Thanks to the low numbers needed for admittance, the vote has already passed.

Thank you!
We didn't expect this so soon; we are discussing it as we speak.

I'm really getting annoyed by your presidency, Your Niftiness. Can't you wait at least one day? Some nations feel themself ignored because they hadn't the chance to vote.
From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki

Well he is quite correct in the fact that the required number of votes had been cast so that, even if all remaining nations voted against their admission, it would still pass.
Personally I'm with Ari on the whole "practical vs. technical" commonwealth thing. Since the Primate knew the outcome of the vote already, announcing it to the interested party put the ball in their court so they could get started on making their own preparations. Yeah, he could have waited 4 days to tell him, but why make them wait when the outcome is already known? I am content as long as Nelaga gets a chance to go down on the record for voting even after the required number of votes have been met.
In other words, yay Erik!

But he can wait at least a day. Maybe there are member states with arguments that can convince other members to vote against. It doesn't need to be formal, but I want a little bit time. Then maybe other states then Novatainia and Shireroth can vote before the Primate closes the voting.Harvey Steffke wrote:Well he is quite correct in the fact that the required number of votes had been cast so that, even if all remaining nations voted against their admission, it would still pass.

Re: Stormark's application for membership
Honestly Jonas, it's just the current size of the commonwealth that made it so quick. When it gets larger it'll take longer. The vote was/is still open for nations to cast there votes.
Honestly, I'm pondering the idea of ditching the admittance vote all together. Replacing it was an objection to admittance vote. So a nation is a member the second they sign, but another member has 4 days to start a vote to block their entry, which needs 2/3rds to pass and lasts for 4 days.
