This sounds very much like the Hasan/Jacobus feud on a smaller plate. :)

Jess was promised the succession to the Duchy. Not promised it "unless someone cooler or more of the Old Guard comes along". :document

I think Greg was and will be a good Duke. I've always supported him doing something.

see
http://www.shireroth.org/shirewiki/Imperial_Decree_276

However this is grossly unfair to Jess, and he needs to be compensated in some fashion acceptable to himself.

People need to be held to their promises, and honor needs to be pre-eminent rather than expediency.

Lac Glacei recognizes Duke Jess until he states otherwise. (Good thing nobody can find us.) :fish

P.S. - So does Florencia.

Crap? Moi? :D

If Jess accepts Greg as Duke, as Jess' loyal liegeman, I will do likewise. If not, I serve my Duke.

Besides, I thought people WANTED more activity in Yardistan....(mutters....)

Oh Jake. I would be irritated if this wasn't so very predictable. Perhaps people can stop promising things they don't intend to keep. Hopefully Jess will get a Duchy soon when Amokolia votes the right way.

I'm surre people intend to do what they promise.....until it become inconvienent.

This is not a Shireroth problem. Most govts., and most businesses and other organizations function that way.

I'd just always hoped that Shireroth (or someplace) could be better than the norm.

Eh.

Scott, are you aware that Cimmeria doesn't show up on any of its parent boards? It took me a very very long time to figure out where it was because of this.
The rule is if there's no ruler of or posts in a subdivision, it doesn't get shown.

But if you prefer, think of it as a continuation of the tradition. Remember the Alexandros era, when for some reason Cimmeria was inaccesible from the main forum, and you had to figure out the URL and type it in manually to get there, and it was just a place where people posted to brag about how they'd figured out how to get in? That was fun.
