SPIKE: It's bollocks, Angel! It's your brand of bollocks from the first to last.
ANGEL: No, you can't ever see the big picture. You can't see any picture!
SPIKE: I am talking about something primal. Right? Savagery. Brutal animal instinct.
ANGEL: And that wins out every time with you. You know, the human race has evolved, Spike!
SPIKE: Oh, into a bunch of namby-pamby, self-analyzing wankers who could never hope to-
ANGEL: We're bigger. We're smarter. Plus, there's a thing called teamwork, not to mention the superstitious terror of your pure aggressors!
SPIKE: You just want it to be the way you want it to be.
ANGEL: It's not about what I want!
WESLEY: Sorry. Is this something we should all be discussing?
ANGEL: No.
WESLEY: It just...sounds a little serious.
ANGEL: It was mostly...theoretical. We...
SPIKE We were just working out a b- Look, if cavemen and astronauts got into a fight, who would win?
WESLEY: Ah. You've been yelling at each other for 40 minutes about this? ... Do the astronauts have weapons?
ANGEL & SPIKE: No.

Re: Cavemen versus Astronauts
I love 5th season Angel, Spike made such a wonderful edition to the team ^_^
Personally though I think Cavemen would win I mean they've got all the brute strength and if the astronauts don't have weapons I think the human race is a lot weaker now than we used to be.

Re: Cavemen versus Astronauts
You know that cavemen (well, neanderthols) could take a broken nose, leg or arm ect and hardly feel any pain? Aparantly they were used to the tough conditions because they used to hunt with brute strength.. and so an injury such as being pushed off the edge of a high ledge, landing on hard rock, wouldn't kill them.. and even better wouldn't cause them much pain. Hell knows if thats true, but watching the whole series of 'walking with cavemen' teaches you something!
The fight between astonauts and cavemen.. depends on the terrain. Obviously, in space, there'd be no air for the monkey-guy to breathe and so he'd suffocate.. or if the spaceman had advanced trapping technology he could trap the poor fierce neanderthol before he even attacked.. but on the other hand, if it was on the caveman's terrain - jumping down mountains and running on plains with big rocks, I'm sure he'd win! Pure strength does a lot for you. We only evolved into what we are now cause we have imagination. In fact, we're not even direct decendants from cavemen.. we were bred from the ones that trekked over from Africa who used to live in the desert.. and now I'm starting to remember where I know all of this random information from.. 'Walking with Cavemen'.. I'd suggest it. ^_^

Re: Cavemen versus Astronauts
If the Astronaut had been an Eagle Scout and recalled his Wilderness Survival stuff. He might be able to outsmart the cave man. Fashion a bow or a good trap or something. But he'd need time.
It's all a matter of whether the Astronaut had tech or the time/ability to make use of his knowledge. Otherwise Caveman wins.

Of course cave men didn't live long. The astronaut could hide until the cave man died at 23. Especially if he has a spaceship full of food.
Otherwise he's screwed.

All the astronaut needs to do is find a shiny object to distract the caveman, and then bash him over the head with a large rock.

I heart these kind of pointless discussions online at obscenely early hours in the morning.
But I shouldn't.
