Imperial Decree #340

Post by Kaiser Reynardine I »

By my hand,

In accordance with the recent amendments to the Imperial Charter requiring equality among the Dukes of Shireroth, the Landsraad is hereby dismissed until further notice. The most equal vote of all is no vote at all.

Done this Losday, the 19th of H'Graasreign, ASC 3415

As the 'guardian' of the Landsraad, do I need to complain or joy? :angel

Unless you have a better explanation than the one you just offered, it sounds like you're being sorta a jerk. Which is completely unnecessary, since as Kaiser you can just revoke the equality amendment if you want.

I can only revoke the Equality Amendment with the approval of the Praetor, and it's obvious that won't happen.

Ah, I see! So you're dissolving the Landsraad to pressure the Praetor into agreeing to your revocation of the Equality Amendment? That's delightfully evil. Still, if Jonas doesn't give in, I might have to join the inevitable revolution.
...after all, the death of a reigning Kaiser automatically recalls the Landsraad to session :document

If Jonas still doesn't give in, the Landsraad ought remove him (or am I allowed to do that?). Either way, I'd rather not boot him out of his position unless I absolutely have to.

But actually, I'd rather not make an unnecessary amount of amendments to the Charter. No, I'll have the Landsraad dismissed until the Charter Convention has produced a new charter, at which point I'll begin pressuring the Prætor should zie refuse to approve it.

@Erik's inevitable comments: I'm sorry, but at this point, the Charter needs to be overhauled now, rather than in 3 months. I want this dealt with and behind me. It's prevent me from having a nice, happy, productive reign.

IIRC only the Landsraad can dismiss the Praetor. Which is kinda hard when disbanded... :)

I see nothing pertaining to the dismissal of the Praetor in the Charter, which is why I am unsure.

Regardless, I have no problem with the Landsraad managing their own affairs while dismissed. But for the time being, they can't make law, approve treaties, etc.

...hmm...treaties...who're MiniEx now?! :o

See! This nonsense with the Charter is distracting me from doing important things!

By tradition the Praetor can't be dismissed by the Kaiser. (my draft puts that into stone)

Without being in Session the Landsraad cannot do anything.

The Landsraad elects the Praetor. If there already is a Praetor, he is replaced by the new one. That is the practical view.

I'm certainly capable of fixing that, Lord Yardistan. :document

Erik, again, we've discussed this. I just had my last exam for the term and I have to think about how best to handle this. I'll have something on Monday.

Sounds like someone wants the Kaiser to be an effective autocrat! :archy
Vilhelm von Benkern - The Dolphin-...Count
:: Formerly just "benkern"
:: Rook Sentry of the Order of the Vorpal Blade
:: Count of Mar Sara IIRC
:: Former Baron of Absentia AFAIK, before that Baron of Vorpmadal TBH; also Former Duke of Yardistan IMHO
:: Dux Emeritus of the Order of Mischievous Intent

It takes moo to mango!

The Duchy of Yardistan is allowed to rebel, yes, but may only rebel against the Kaiser with consent from the Kaiser. Yardistan may also not rebel with "malicious intent".
