Council for the Duchy

Post by Malliki »

Elwynn has the Council at Eliria, Kildare has the Seanad, Yardistan has the Diet. What does Brookshire have? Nothing. Therefore, I suggest that we create a council for the duchy. I want a good name (not Council, Seanad or Diet). A small prize will be awarded to the Brookshirian with the best suggestion.

Corey, if you stun me with a perfectly brilliant proposal I might make an exception. And BTW, you did name Lakhesis, so don't complain. :document

Synod perhaps? I've always found that word nifty.

Or maybe...I'll want to save that one in case Ari ever wants to make a council in Straylight. :shifty

Too religious for me. Synod is used in the Swedish Lutheran Church.

Kehl is good because if you use it here it won't become a Lower/Baronial Chamber of the Landsraad. :document

So, I've decided. The name of the new Brookshirian council is THE KEHL! :yay: :yay: :yay: :party :party :party

For the time being, access is restricted. There is a Charter for Brookshire on the way that will regulate who gets access to the Kehl.

We could do with a logo for the Kehl, I'm happy to make one if you want, just tell what sort of logo you want. :thumbsup

Yes, it will.

I would like something that incorporates elements from the Brookshire flag with elements that describes the Kehl's role, which will probably be both legislative and judicial. If you make me a design I like, there will be some Erbs in it for you. :document

That reminds me, the Landsraad has judicial power second to the Kaiser... I don't think we've ever used that power.

I hope you mean the Arbiter. If not, I don't see where in the laws the Landsraad is granted judicial powers.

Maybe that was one of those traditional things... Before the Judex the Kaiser did all judicial stuff, but the Landsraad had the power to hold trial. Then the Landsraad made the Judex, granting judicial power to it. Then the Arbiter ended up in the Charter, but the Judex still gets its power from the Landsraad, since the laws for the Judex are in the Lawbook, putting the Landsraad above the Judex.

Why not have a coat-of-arms including the flags of all Baronies of Brookshire? That'd be relatively simple, I suppose.

That would be more appropriate as a coat of arms for Brookshire I think. The Kehl will primarily be a legislative and judicial body, and I want that to show in the coat of arms. But, the coat of arms/flag could include a baronial coronet.

I'd suggest you run major Landsraad votes through the Kehl, so that constituent Barons of Brookshire can decide what the entire Duchy's vote on important matters can be. Then the Ducal representative- yourself, Mi'Lord- can pass that vote on to the Landsraad.
More democractic that way :)

Um? Democracy? Not in Brookshire. The Kehl is free to make its view known on Landsraad votes by passing a resolution. I might even wait to get that input. But the Landsraad vote is mine and mine alone. The Kehl is primarily for internal duchy matters.
