This got me thinking.

I was thinking of making the Duke of Yardistan the nominal leader who votes in the Landsraad, then having the Anarch as the real guy with power, and making it a position that changes hands. Every month or two months, the person with the most post change in that last month/those last two months (i.e. has posted the most) is the candidate, and the Diet votes on whether we want him. If there's a majority yes he's in, if not the 2nd highest poster gets voted on and so on. I thought it might be a little fun.

If you do this, and Elwynn does their thing, and I keep letting Straylightians have Landsraad emissaryship (well, more like start letting them have it again, I haven't been doing that lately), next thing you know we'll finally have actually become a republic

If we are to be a Crowned Republic (a la Poland 1500 - 1600's) lets not let it go too far. There are nations that would be thrilled to pull a Russia-Prussia-Austria on us.

The Anarch was ussually the guy who would go "I'm in charge!" and have the most people following him. Which could lead to multiple Anarchs running around at once.

Make the Anarch more like the Pope, and those counties which swear allegiance to his anarchical ways follow him ...

It's a neat idea, but I think that for the sake of Shireroth that the Anarch should either be Duke of Yardistan or the Kaiser.

Power to the nobles - or power to the people - makes no difference to me - I would prefer power to the active.

I've always liked the idea of a crowned Republic. Which is why I like Shireroth, I suppose.
