Imperial Decree 320

Post by Kaiser Loki III »

Persuant primarily to Imperial Decrees 302 and 319, but as a guide in all such situations-

Any piece of legislation mentioning a part of the government which has gone through a name change shall be considered to apply to the current name of that part of the goivernment, using the common sense inherent in all of us.

In case of a dispute, the Kaiser, or in his absence the Arbiter shall decide what applies to what.

Done and Done,
Loki III, Kaiser of Shireroth

Which means, just as it is now. This is how the Judex already handles these matters.

But now it's official :document
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy

And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

You should add this to the Lawbook. Then it can be easily referred to.

Decrees that aren't added to the DecreeBook or the LawBook are hard to keep track of.

Decrees really ought to be in a single format that modifies the Decreebook, like all Landsraad Acts modify the Lawbook.

Some of us have been adding decrees in this category. So they are all on the wiki. Or will be it due course.

And, of course, that is a very manageable site. So whenever I need to check what the Imperial Decrees say, I have to check the DecreeBook as well as the individual decrees?

Yeah, I know. I usually go Charter, DecreeBook, LawBook. Now I apparently have to add "very unmanageable decree site" as well.

Thing is - there's no procedure. They're not written like they ought to be thrown straight in there sometimes. It would be really good if decrees were written like modifications as I described, so they could be slotted into the appropriate section by anyone who has the time to edit the wiki. Sometimes wording can be very important, and sometimes the wording would have to be changed for the decree to fit into the decreebook.

As Benkern said, we can't add a decree to the DecreeBook if it's not drafted as an amendment.

I've been pushing for this for several Kaiser's now. We can't force the Kaiser... but it really would make life easier for all. Including the Kaiser to edit the Decreebook/Lawbook when they make decrees like this... at least just site what is changing to what, and someone else can make the change.

I made the decreebook for a reason.

Loki, Ayreon, Hasan. Mors. 3 ago. 6-9 months.. I forget. Not THAT recently. AndI did use the books. Hell, under Hasan I revamped the books and moved as much as I could into the lawbook.

Mayhaps the Arbiter would like to do so?

I just feel thqat Imperial Decrees as such should be saved for history's sake. The import of them could be folded in to Law.

I don't disagree. We're just saying... they should edit one of the books, for record keeping etc.

There is no conflict between preserving decrees and having them edit the DecreeBook. Ex:
Decree 511
The DecreeBook, Chapter Y, X is amended as follows:
1. All balls are blue.

There, both a decree and an amendment to the DecreeBook.

The Arbiter should not get involved in the amending of the DecreeBook. The Kaiser will just have to learn how to do it. :jesus

I'm a little more worried about the 321 degrees you have to convert over, rather than any actual phrasing of further decrees ....

Only the decrees of the last 3 Kaiser might need to be added. Every time I take the throne I make sure the decreebook is up today. Infact, when I made it that's what I did.

Honestly, most previous decrees have been dealt with, just make this one work and future ones and we are all good.
