Breaking news: Babkhans are acting Babkhan!

Post by Ari Rahikkala »

Well, it came out on INS, so I guess it's time to break the news to Shireroth too: Since March, Hesam and some other Babkhans have been entertaining the private fantasy that Shireroth is part of Babkha.

The IAC first heard of this on Sep 16th (and through PMs and such so did basically half of Shireroth, so if you were out of the loop the reason is that it's not that important an issue). The initial reaction was to consider sending Hesam and Ardashir a thank you note - they were very productive citizens who gave a lot of their free time to Shireroth for several months and helped us attain the greatest activity in our history so far. We ended up instead going for the "let all flowers bloom" approach - let Hesam have his fun, and hey, what's for lunch?

So, yeah, that's that. The Sword of Vengeance is in Corey's care, and I'm sure that if there still are any doubts about that, Brrapa can come in and clarify the issue. Shireroth is as sovereign as it always was. We can of course discuss whether the Babkhans would have been able to finish their xanatos gambit (too bad Ric was too honest for it), but seriously. I think you should trust this nation a little bit more :p.

I'm assuming this is what Ric was saying about illegal stuff for the inquisitors?

And how was I not important enough to be in the loop as Duke of Yardistan? :knife Eh, whatever... I just think it's kinda silly, entertaining false notions.

I found it quite amusing, all in all. Have to agree with Ari, after my initial outrage that they would plot such a thing, I then looked at what it actually achieved, and I think Shireroth got the far better end of the deal, and was far more absorbing Babkha than they thought. I mean, for a start, who has the better economy? :worship

(for those interested, the forum is http://babkha.com/forum/viewforum.php?f ... 3ca4a71065. Some of it makes for quite amusing reading)

Well, the national security loop *is* kind of separate from the cultural/legislative loop. Nothing against any duke personally (Eoin and Jonas weren't told either), it's just the weirdness of Shirithian politics at work :).

Legally nothing happened, so Ric didn't do anything to prosecute him for. In practise he was the one to bring this big laugh to the world, so we should thank him for it :angel

Anger... want to burn Babhkan houses and put Ric in a jail... :angry

You can see we (those who were for the nomination of Jacobus as Kaiser) were right! Ayreon and Hasan are traitors of the Shirerithian people! :yay:

BURN BABHKANS! BURN! :evil :D

Jonas, having considered the evidence in depth, I agree with the Steward that Ric should be placed under Imperial protection. I don't know if the Dutch have an equivalent term, but in English it would be "Amnesty for the Whistleblower."

That being said, I'm still all in favour of putting Hesam and Ardy on trial with an international jury, but that may just be the Novatainian in me who likes serious trials that have only minor punishments (I'm all for mercy, but you've gotta have justice first, so you know what you're being merciful about. Take the Sorongath case ...)

I'd also like a little more confirmation on the sword .... at least some sort of Babkhan confirming they gave it to Corey, or Corey confirming he sent in a SHINE team to re-acquire it ...

A trial? Traitors don't deserve a trial!

(Seriously. Why? What did they wrong? AExxept making us a Babhkan province? :p )

If they have the sword we will need to take it back. Make you ready for war, nobles! :)

The point is: they did SOMETHING!
I'm just an angry mob... you are speaking about justice... I'm talking about killing as much Babhkans I can (or sending them to some of the Kildarian mines!) before we know it's all a mistake...

An angry mob doesn't think!

I think the obvious consequence of what we've learned is that Ric belongs in Shireroth, not Babkha. He was too honest to materially contribute to the plot... yet it's exactly this kind of plot that's so ingrained in Babkhan culture that he felt he couldn't just blow the whistle on it until Hesam started crowing about it. Sorry to poach citizens here, but it's true. Ric, I think you'd be happier if you left Babkha behind. :)

@Jonas: this is that news.... :no

@everyone else: sorry for not making this public before, but that would have been acknowledging that Babkha successfully infiltrated us (however, they did not successfully take us over, thanks to Ric).

Ric is under imperial protection, he will not be put to trial. I'll leave Hesam and Ardy to the rest of you.

I said it, didn't I? Chose Kaiser Loki! Not a Babhkan!

And succesfully infiltrated... we could have thrown the Babhkans in jail if they took over the nation :document

I'm glad the news broke (though who told Tomsett? Or did he just notice the forum on his own?). Everyone in the IAC was all "Oh, let's pretend this never happened so we don't embarrass the Babkhans too badly." To that I say - bah. This way is probably less mature and productive, and Hesam will probably show up saying that we're all losers or bad sports for doing whatever it is we do, but at least it makes life interesting for a while.

Luckly our rightful Kaiser will act against this when he is back.

To-do-list
- Raising an angry mob.
- Burning Babhkan houses.
- Using the new guillotine (made by George Bush Enterprises).
- Raising a small army.
- Invading Babhka.
- Burning Babhkan houses (in Babhka).
- Taking the Babhkan thrown.
- Giving the thrown to the Kaiser.
- Trying to take a nap. :sleep

Hey, Hesam wasn't a Babkhan citizen when he ascended the Golden Mango Throne either. You have the sword, you have administrative access like dozens of kaisers/ruling stewards before you, and you are officially recognised as the ruler of Shireroth in every way that matters. It's not a new thing. You wouldn't need to squint much to say that the line of Windsor has wielded the Sword of Vengeance - after all Mahamantot I *did* more or less rule the nation as kaiser for a time. Same with an unnamed Antican bloodline through Nicodemus I. The sword's been held by people with strong ties to Istvanistan, Delvenus, Jasonia, Hyperborea, Audentior, Tymaria, Menelmacar, Treesia, etc. too. We pass it around a lot.

Last I heard you were still an admin over at Toketi, and even if you aren't I'm sure you still have some leverage and loyalty with the people there. So, you could make a secret forum in Toketi and claim to sell us out if you wanted to. It would be just as much a Tokian infiltration as this is a Babkhan infiltration :).

They only reason I have admin in Toketi is because the other two people with it don't know how to use it (and are, peculiarly, either unable or unwilling to learn). Also, I'm not exactly very much liked by anyone but Bayen, Prodigy, and Tsunade (although, they're all that matters in Toketi). Please also consider the facts that everyone in Toketi lives within bike-riding distance of my house, I founded the place, and it's my only contact with several friends. :)

Actually Gents, I'd rather hoped this would turn out the way it did. We all had a great time, Shireroth is an astounding success and as Ari said, is better of it. There is some over-played story about the scorpion and the fox I won't go into but in the end, all went well.

If anything I've learned that while taking over another country is possible, it requires so much work and dedication that your own nation is likely to suffer in the process.

We were also aware that our PM's were being monitored as certain appointments and issues would be raised mere hours after a PM had been sent. Following that, we ensured that everything sent was juicy enough to keep the real admin interested (scott, Erik, Ari).

Motives? Well to see if it could be done of course, and also because I wanted a venue to develop the economic model I used in babkha further. I suppose as well because Shireroth really doesn't get out much and tends to be outraged over the slightest thing. Most of us left Shireroth after we'd run the gambit and decided it was best to let this out.

Ric said he didn't want to be Kaiser any more so I suggested Jacobus as his successor since Babkha has sort of been stepping on his toes for a year while we were here. (Honestly, did you really think Babkha is the only foreign interest in Shireroth out for mayhem?)

But I digress,

I hope all of you have enjoyed this as much as I have, cheers to the economy, the activity and the progress, it was a great game.

All The Best,

Babkha,

I certainly didn't read your PMs, and I'm pretty sure it's impossible without changing your password (and you'd notice if someone did). I strongly doubt Erik or Ari would as well, so whatever clues you detected must've been coincidence.

You're welcome. You're not being bitter or nasty about it, so I'm quite happy to accept that sort of apology*. I hope you'll come back some time and help the economy grow further.

*The Sorongath case, which I alluded to before, was where a guy came onto the forum, pretended to be a cultist, and threatened to feed everyone to "the deeps". He was put on trial, the King pushed exile, and I said "Wait - if he's sorry, let him stay." Well, he was sorry, he stayed, and became one of our most active citizens. This fits the model rather well. A serious court case is only for if Hesam and Ardy wanted to prove they weren't do anything wrong, or were vindictive about it.

*blinks*

This is... highly unlikely. Unless there's some way to do it in phpBB that I haven't heard of (which seems unlikely), you'd have to watch the database for PMs. That would mean only Erik and I would even be able to do it. I have not read other people's private messages, and I don't think the other admins have, either.
