I'll be honest. 30 erb for what Jacobus did really is... a bit of an insult. But when he started he didn't do it for the money, Yardistan can easily pay, and the government's going bankrupt, so I think we can live with it.

Fair enough - that was excessive. But that was going to the Jacobus Fund Charity and the paltry 30 erbs was going to Yardistan's tax fund, so I'd naturally prefer if one had more than the other.

If I'm not mistaken, you can't refuse to pay taxes. The assets are seized automatically. If you try to withhold money, you could be prosecuted.

Like foreclose the Duchy and auction off its lands to other Duchies? Or have other duchies buy their land so they don't have to be foreclosed on?

I think the Kaiser smackdown would have much more of an effect if the old Duchy's lands were immediately distributed to other Duchies.
