Remove Papel from the lawbook.
I say we remove all the laws about papels from the lawbook etc. It's created nothing but trouble trying to regulate and make it illegal. It's just a law there for no other reason then to get people in trouble for no reason. So.. Let's just make it legal as long as it's not created for obviously malicious reasons or something. Or just remove all mention of it all together, and deal with it on a case by case basis. If they use it for malicious reason, we can deal with it on those merits.

I disagree because then you'll have factional disputes over what is or is not malicious... that and the fact I will use papels to conquer your entire empire and exterminate all the fleshy creatures that oppose me.

Or leave it to the Kaiser or the Court to decide on the merits of each case, if it was malicious or not.
To be honest I can't really think of many if ANY cases of a malicious use of a alter-ego in all of Shireroth history. If there was, which I can't recall, we either never found out, or found out and dealt with it accordingly.
The law is ineffectual and a joke, no matter how you look at it, or write it.

Re: Remove Papel from the lawbook.
The law needs tightening up, the register needs to be established, and to be enforced. If the law enforcement officials declare themselves unwilling or unable to enforce the laws and decrees that exist they need to be replaced.

Re: Remove Papel from the lawbook.
Not necessarily. I think with the economy in place, there is definitely a means of enforcement. It might not be much, but it's something.
Of course people don't ultimately have to obey the law. But as micronationals, we're supposed to be at least acting as if this were a real state. So we rely on the maturity of our citizens to follow the laws whether practical or simulated. That's just the way it works. This isn't a discussion forum, its a cultural state for all purposes.

The Registrar is a stupid idea, and accomplishes nothing, just like every other law regarding alter-egos... They should be abolished, not tightened.

Let the Kaiser deal with it.

No, I mean, scrap the law and the Kaiser will bring the pain when necessary...

Problem is, we can't bring any pain without legislation.

... yeah we can. Well, we can't bring any pain at all really, but we certainly don't need to legislate it.

Re: Remove Papel from the lawbook.
Yeah it does. Papelism is outside of the simulation. Look at the lawbook. Ravishment of persons and so on.
It's simulatory. We can have people punished without getting the law involved...

*shrug* The courts are the courts are the courts. If you don't think you can punish 'em, let the Kaiser do it. That's what he's there for!

I don't think we can't, we can't. Or do you want the Judex to invent laws?

Re: Remove Papel from the lawbook.
Why should we, they are an essential part of Micronationalism!
Re: Remove Papel from the lawbook.
If you want us to punish papels, make a law that allows us to do that.
The only one that can arbitrarily punish people is the Kaiser, and he shouldn't have to do stuff that the Judex could do. We are here for a reason, you know.

Re: Remove Papel from the lawbook.
*smacks Jess upside the head with a hammer*
Honestly, I think it's one of those things that only needs to be dealt with on a case by case matter. If they are a non-cit with a papel, we can just expel them if they cause trouble, if they are a citizen we have other laws to deal with specific actions, including a section on Treason... Papels aren't inherently bad. It's how they are used. And we have laws to deal with those actions already. So all these laws addressing papels specifically do nothing constructive, as we saw with the recent events involving Scott. He did nothing malicious, and generally people were amused in a good way by what he did.. now he would be a criminal for doing it. That doesn't even make sense.
