Shireroth meet-ups?

Post by Maksym Hadjimehmetov »

Are there any Shirereithans who will be in the glorious capital of her most Illustrious Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second* sometime later this week? Maybe we can sort out whatever this island business is over a pint then. ;)

Pint of Shepherd Neame's Spitfire. In a large German stein. With pretzels.
For that you can have a jar of sand from Haquun.

I will be travelling to Germany sometime during October. It's really not my fault as it's work related. But I intend on tacking on some extra time at the end to visit the UK.

He lives in Canada. I'm sure he's been to the US more than he ever wanted to in the first place.

The War of 1812 says otherwise.

Actually, I haven't had the benefit of visiting most of the US. I've been to NY State and Florida. Which are the standard Canadian visits.

On my list is NYC, Boston, Chicago and Seattle. Don't know when, but I'd like to visit them.

You should stop into Philadelphia, too. Wandering around in the city recently, I realized just how nice the city really is in some parts.

I highly recommend the Rodin Museum and the Philly Art Museum. And while you're in the area, drop me and Corey a line.

Jess, the main victor of the War of 1812 was British North America (aka Canada) which survived the unprovoked American aggression against it with the aid of the British motherland, and developed into a sovereign nation and a respected great power in its own right which sits at the top table in the G8 and NATO. The size difference between England and America is irrelevant.

Incidentally isn't it instructive that the Yanks had to take an entire continent to achieve what the English managed operating out of one small island on the edge of a hostile continent.

Finally some appreciation from home!

Yes, as much as the Americans don't want to admit it, they lost the war of 1812.

That, and William Hull...

I'm curious about this constant use of the whip. Is it meant to be an "Oh snap!" moment?

Not entirely appropriate however. Perhaps something less suggestive and unlikely to get us all into terrible trouble, like a Kiwi or something?
