Things Shireroth has lost history to

Post by Ari Rahikkala »

Just listing these things as I remember them...

- The Void Trilogy: Three archive forums that destroyed all posts that were moved to them, probably due to ezBoard bugs. Spanned mostly the late ezBoard years, though early stuff might have been archived in the Void, too.
- the anarchy21 spam attack: A spam attack on February 17, 2003 in general discussion (IIRC) meant to delete threads by pushing them beyond ezBoard's 20-page pruning limit. Also known as the Battle of Cimmeria as patriots and friendly foreigners kept important threads bumped to avoid their disappearance.
- the ezHack: Destroyed a lot of history up to May 31, 2005, especially in the month prior to the attack. Some threads were partially recovered - the first post remains, but anything after that is just collapsed to an empty post with "unknown" listed as the poster.
- the Stone hack attack: Several forums including Goldshire emptied on May 2, 2003. See http://shireroth.kuroshiro.net/forum/vi ... f=1&t=4510
- the Wiki collapse: Unsure about what exactly went on with this, actually... could someone fill me in on the details?

Anything significant I'm missing?

We conducted a lot of stuff on the Tymarian boards during the Tymarian era. He Who Must Not Be Named destroyed two or three months of that, and then a few years later EZBoard troubles wiped out the rest.
