Spy Work

Post by Andreas the Wise »

The Duchal Spy Agency was having some success. They'd managed to apprehend two communications suspected to be from Baron Andreas the Wise to two of his most important officials. They'd brought them straight to the Duke, but upon opening, each burst into a bright flame, which began to rapidly consume the document. One of the staff had the foresight to pick up dirt from the nearby pot plant and smother the flames (water would have made the ink run) but only scraps of the messages were left. They would have to be more careful next time with communications from Andreas - clearly there was some sort of magical defense on them.

One had been addressed to the Sultan of Gong Li (the Hau'Oli in traditional circles). " ... will be refounded on the principles It was created: Ancient, Prominent Races; Dangerous Magical Intrigue; and Dramatic Loud Music (as though the original concept has wide support outside the Barony, the majority of citizens within the Barony are not big fans of Music with Rocks In ..."
Races, Magic and Music? What could this mean? "Rocks In?" And was there any significance to "It" being capitalised?

The second, addressed to Mel'Kat, commander of the Atterockian Navy, was even more confusing " ... what he doesn't realise is that this Barony was founded on the principal of non-interference. The counties had grown fiercely independent during the Dark Ages, as the plague had forced them to be, and any attempt to directly interfere in their existing culture ...
... doesn't understand the full meaning of the English word 'civil'. He doesn't seem to realise that what appeared a naval blockade was actually a protest march. We'll see how he reacts to the LiveRaid ..."

What could this mean? 'Civil' as in civil war? And non-interference.

"Next time, bring me full messages," the Duke told his spies. "Otherwise, I just get a head ache ..."
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy

And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

After throwing the spies out of his room, the Duke ordered to bring him commander Zirk.
Half an hour later Zirk knockeds on the door, opened it and walked quietly to the Duke's desk.

"My Lord, You have called me," he said.
"Yes, commander," said Jonas, "I want you to organise the troops and make them ready for a possible 'civil' threath."
"Of course, My Lord."
"And I want you to arrange a meeting with the counts within our Duchy. I want to know how loyal the Atterocks counts are to there Duke," Jonas said to his commander.
Zirk turned himself and walked to the door. Before he left the room the Duke said loud and clear: "After you have done all this, I want a dictionary. I want to know what meaning 'civil' can have..."
From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki
