Shireroth and the MCS
I only have time for a quick version of this rant.
With honestly all respect to Erik, benkern (and others),
Why in the name of Loki do we give a flying Fish of Balgurd what the MCS thinks? By "the MCS", I really mean the anti-Shireroth cabal in the MCS, Jeremy being the loudest.
If we judge the place by number of posts and level of participation, they should (I intuitively ESTIMATE), give us 40% of the planet.
In the case, the tail is wagging the dog, and the tail is the MCS.
Without Shireroth they loose a major chunk of continuity and legitimacy, and start to look a lot like the ghostdevilplanet Giess.
We have the talent here to build a dozen solar systems.
That ends my condensed rant, which is entirely my own opinion, and does not necessarily reflect the opinion of any other Shirerithians.
See you in a day or two.

Things should get better from now on - especially now Andreas is on the board.
Re: Shireroth and the MCS
Don't forget we have strong allies in the MCS. Batavia, Gralus and Babhka for example.
So we have a lot of influence
So we have a lot of influence
From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki

Re: Shireroth and the MCS
True enough but I think that gives us a lot of influence on other micronations on the MCS rather than with the MCS management. But it is true we are quite clubable as a quartet.Jonas wrote:Don't forget we have strong allies in the MCS. Batavia, Gralus and Babhka for example.

Perhaps someone should organise a mini-summit of Babkha, Batavia, Gralus and Shireroth at some point so that we can start singing off a similar hymn sheet regarding Micras matters.

Re: Shireroth and the MCS
Jake, you might want to back up your talk of this anti-Shireroth cabal in the MCS with some recent rejected Shirithian claims.
Oh, and about threatening to leave the MCS or founding some kind of an organisation to wring favours out of it... I thought we'd have more love for our children
. We should be *proud* that the MCS is an independent organisation that's ready to criticise any nation out there. Besides, the MCS has been around in some form almost as long as us, and the continuity of the MCS map is so much a part of Shireroth that *we need them more than they need us*.
(also, I was originally going to rant at length about my usual pet peeve of "no, we don't have the resources people claim we have" - as in, the last we heard of the only citizen here who I would trust to design "a dozen solar systems" he was getting on a 20-hour bus ride somewhere in Nepal... but then I remembered that I've already ranted plenty about that)

Well Ari you are right - the only citizen who could be trusted to design a dozen solar systems is currently out somewhere in Nepal. But on the plus side we could easily trust you to design half a dozen reasonably well.

Re: Shireroth and the MCS
I'm on side in the sense that I want more land. However, I think our best bet at the present time is to not claim for a couple months. Unfortunately, with the council as it is, and Spangle nominally claiming citizenship, only Pawel, Pete and Craitman can vote. And at least two of those are convinced our land is too big. We may get away with it in the future, but not at the present time. From now on, I think, any land we claim has to be very justified. I know we develop our land very well. But I'll also admit, if I'm being objective, that we don't use every inch of land we currently have ... we don't really have quite enough people to Baron everywhere, let alone Count each particular territory. Any further expansions have to be ones that are really important to us - in the words of the Python song - "Every pixels' sacred. Every pixel's good. Every pixels' needed [to be used] in your neighbourhood ...."
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy
And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

Re: Shireroth and the MCS
Why thank you for acknowledging my recent work, although I don't really want to be reminded about the bus ride.last we heard of the only citizen here who I would trust to design "a dozen solar systems" he was getting on a 20-hour bus ride somewhere in Nepal
Anyway, I agree with Ari that Jake is overestimating us. Beaugium and Bobalania both have more posts per day than we, Gralus has about the same amount of culture, Babkha's about the same age, and a couple of places have about as many citizens. Our cartographers may give 110%, but they'd still need an extra 10 to give Beaugium, Bobalania, and us each 40% of the land, and that's not even considering the 30-odd other countries.
We could always make our own cartography society. It wouldn't even take any cartographic skill. All we'd have to do is open a blank MSPaint screen, make the size 4000 * 4000 pixels, flood fill it red, and save it as world.jpg. That way Shireroth would have 16 million pixels of land! It would be great, wouldn't it?
...or maybe the whole fun of having land comes from doing it in a consistent simulation with lots of other people who allocate it fairly and make you work really really hard for every extra bit.

I just advocate restraint and thinking about long term consequences of our land greed. Yes, we could grab land and get people to support it like a man with a sledge hammer, or we could actually get people to like us. I'm also thinking about foreign relations with the member nations.

Restraint (puff, pant)
That's why I restrained myself by ranting HERE rather than THERE.
I'm fairly well purged on the subject, and as long as I avoid the situation, I'll have little to say on the subject.
EXCEPT!
I agree with Ardy and Jonas, let's through our weight behind our Allies catching up with us.
Confusion to the enemy!
Call me if there is another war......
Oh, and P.S.,
blame the whole Shireroth-wanting-to-annex-everything idea on me, I'm used to it.

Yep, you're used to being the micronational whipping boy and all-around bad boy. I think I like you better now--semi-reformed, and still talking a bad game.
