I'm gonna BUMP this topic with some news.

As you may know, it has been more or less compulsory for all intermicronational teams to qualify for the FMF World Cup unless they formally write to the federation to withdraw their participation. Shireroth are currently on the verge of qualification, leading 2-1 to Mania with the return leg to be played on Sunday. Winning that match will lead Shireroth into the summer world cup and exclusive TV rights to the world cup finals held in Oleslaad-Svensland (Jess's nation) next month.

This will be Shireroth's first ever entry into the tournament if they qualify, so good luck on performing on the bigger stage!

I don't understand...what? What is this qualifying and why didn't I know about it?

because Liam, you have to qualify for World Cup this year and your region hasn't started this yet as Shireroth are in a different regional FA to you. Last year you automatically qualified for the final stages because you hosted it, this year you have to qualify.

SHIREROTH ARE THROUGH TO THE WORLD CUP FINALS

Mania 0-2 Shireroth

For the first time in their history, Shireroth has qualified for the FMF World Cup after two late goals secured their place in the finals in July-August.

Nigel Robertson made what almost could have been a deadly mistake as he let Yoann Martin through after some dreadful marking that could have left Shireroth down within the first 5 minutes. Luckily Bjornsson was click to react and quickly rushed out to catch it in safe hands.

Tommy Player immediately replied with a lofting attempt at goal after finding some space outside the box before seeing it go wide, Mania were quick on the counter however the ball went to Ken Garaghty, who instead of passing went for glory - cutting inside before unleashing a shot wide. A sitter for Mania, the teams both go into the first half tied at 0-0.

The second half saw a massive improvement, possibly because of a half time team talk or Mania's fatigue creeping in. Didinho managed to steal the ball off Geraghty to run down the wing unchallenged before whipping in a cross which Jalal Akwa completely missed. Tommy Player tried a second attempt being rebounded away by a defender with Tor Svensson lining up the 3rd attempt which went too high to make any trouble.

It took until the 76th minute for the first goal, when Didinho yet again came down the left channel unchallenged before crossing in for deep, curling in towards the substitute forward Carl Simpson who just stabbed it into the back of the net.

Celebrations were not over yet as Garry Smith wanted to get part of the ball, coming in late on a player but deemed to get the ball. The opposition players were shouting for a freekick but Smith continued with his run, cutting in before a left footed drive into the bottom left of the goal, with the goalkeeper unable to do it.

Final whistles and they're still celebrations, with the players returning to Shireroth to celebrate their World Cup Entry. Jumping up and down and singing out loud in one side, the other side were almost in tears as they knew they could have made so much history for their country.
