I have an Idea!

What I am thinking is having two legislative bodies. The Lansraad and Chamber II (needing new name)

The Kaiser would still have his same powers.

The Lansraad would use their duchies erb (Dukes and Commoners)

Chamber II (NNN) would have all the barons erb, and if the Chamber II could have enough votes 3/4 to overrule the lansraad on a law. The lansraad would then have to approve the bill with a 2/3rds majorty.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like my Council of Barons idea from 2ish years ago.. actually exactly the same. Though I think I gave the barons no ability to override the Landsraad.

Actually.. both chambers made up the whole of the Landsraad. The Council of Barons was a secondary house within the Landsraad. Can't recall what I called the Dukes..

I dunno about a second legislature. In my experience they slow everything right down. In addition, it would complicate the banking system even further. Let's work with the Landsraad, get the economic system working perfectly for that, and then see if there is any interest in creating another legislative body.

Second Legislature slowing things is just annoying ...
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy

And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

Doesn't look that great to me.
Vilhelm von Benkern - The Dolphin-...Count
:: Formerly just "benkern"
:: Rook Sentry of the Order of the Vorpal Blade
:: Count of Mar Sara IIRC
:: Former Baron of Absentia AFAIK, before that Baron of Vorpmadal TBH; also Former Duke of Yardistan IMHO
:: Dux Emeritus of the Order of Mischievous Intent

It takes moo to mango!

To be fair the Dukes could still function without the 2nd chamber.

It all worked well until now, why would we change this? Barons can have influence with using their money.
From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki

Also, I find that there is usually ample opportunity for debate and persuasion within the Landsraad Front Gate. I see little need for an additional chamber, so long as the barons and non-nobles are able to speak their minds before proposals are put before the Landsraad proper.
