Provoking the MCS

Post by Erik Mortis »

So long ago, I established a policy about not provoking the MCS.... We have a lot of land...And are always getting threatened with reduction... So why are we provoking the MCS with all these land claims and stuff? I thought the mango map was supposed to just be for historical reference. Since when did it became policy to claim everything we can and piss everyone off. We've gone several years without seriously provoking the MCS and all the little people scampering about claiming we are to big. So why are we so bent on making them more and more likely to make us SMALLER! just for a few bits of land we probably won't even use?

I seriously think we need to revisit the new policy on the MCS and land. We need to stop pissing everyone off. We probably, honestly, have NO support in the MCS these days, so we are we setting ourselves up for a fall?

I think we have a reasonable amount of support from the MCS. In addition, there is no direct policy of establishing ourselves in the former territories, this war mostly happened because occasionally its a fun thing to do. While the issue of the rule set may be crap, you have to admit, it's a neat turn of events that The Dukes and Barons were petitioned to provide their forces instead of one person fighting the war by themselves. Having this recwar doesn't make us any enemies (I speak with Jeremy regularly, including today) and its more of a badly designed game of chess than a catfight. Is it my intention to go and claim everything we formerly owned? No. In this case, it was just a misunderstanding, but we're making the best of it. In future, I don't see us invading or demanding people leave our former lands. Mostly because I know no one would listen to us. And also because we don't really have a need for more land right now.

It's just a game, this war! I don't care who would win or lose the war. But it's a good way to learn more about RecWars for me.
And if Batavië joins the war, that would be an important step! In the Dutch sector there wasn't a Recwar since the war between the Red Antilles and Mayo (two years back?).

The war must be fun, please not to serious! ;)

Well, we do have an act of the Landsraad about annexation. :fish Kaiser Mors V asked me to stay out of the MCS, and I obeyed.

The Absentia thing went well................

Besides, they shot first.

I see no problem. I will stand by the decision of my Steward over the opinion of a foreign nation. There is an old saying: Me against my Brother, my Brother and I against my cousin and my family against my neighbor.

Hasan, if you really don't like Anunia you can change it to SNARL ... I just think Anunia is better. ;)

And Erik, apart from Bosworth going crazy, this war should be a bit of fun and that's why I'm so supportive of it.

I'm not talking about the war. The war is fine. and fun.

I'm talking about our continuous asking for land? How many times have we tried to claim new land in the last 3 months? I admit some was done under my kaisership... But if we keep asking for land.. we get the attention of people.. and people start vocally saying we should be reduced.. this happens enough.. and it will be done.. it's happened in the past. If enough people call for it, and protest.. and threaten to leave.. we can be reduced in size... This is what I mean by provoked....

A fair call. I was rather surprised Jacobus claimed so early again, though it has been fun.

Perhaps an official policy of at least three months between any future expansions would be in order? And a limit on the number of areas/pixels claimed at once? I know for Novatainia/Gralus I've tried to keep it to about three months between claims - it seems to be long enough that everyone's forgotten your last claim.

Limiting it is fine. I just knew that somebody was going to try to get our other half of Mar Sara, and I wanted to link it to Yardistan.

I also thought it important that we show some strength.

Besides, didn't Shireroth (read Erik, Scott & Co.) invent the bloody map? And couldn't we invent another one if need be? :moose

Ok, what about minimizing claims on Micras, but adding colonies on Giess, Juno, Earth? :kiwi

I thought Shireroth a strictly Micras-based country. What is this talk of expanding onto other fictional territories?

I like Micras... no need to create another map.
Expanding onto Giess would be a horrible mistake, primarily because in doing so we would acknowledge its existence.
Juno and all those other maps are not worth thinking about.
And Earth... well... over to the Californians on that one.

Indeed.
I personally don't like the Giess map. It isn't detailed. It looks nice on the first sight, but it isn't.

No.

Earth. We already claim land through Yardistani Annexation Corps on earth...

I'm gonna put a resolution before the Landsraad to end all current claims before the MCS.

What ever the Landsraad concludes, I will honour. I see neither a reason to expand nor a reason to stop expanding unless it is the will of Shireroth.

Well and good. I follow policy. :D Well most of the time.

Are we talking about abandoning current pending claims? What about mergers?

We do need the north half of Mar Sara.

Giess generally sucks.

My basic nature is grasping and expansionist, :evil but I can find other fun things to do. (Sigh)

I agree we don't wanna claim on Giess. I'd support at least getting the other side of Mar Sara and the Enhasan isles ...

The North half of Mar Sara is not entirely necessary, it being my Duchy and my County I must say I am not in great need of it.
