The Pangean Empire (Pangeaans Rijk), shortened to Pangeus (like the continent it's on), is the name for a nation in Myxosea that consists of a whole continent and some isles. It's divided in three large realms (the Central Realm, the Northern Realm and the Southern Realm).

To the contrary of Shireroth, it's not located on Micras but on Myxosea (both worlds are connected through gates). In 5120 ASC contact with Micras was restored, which was the beginning of massive immigrations to Pangeus. At the same moment, the first Autokrator was crowned and the Empire was formally established, after which representatives tried to make contact with Government of the Shirerithian Kaiser (in return for sending colonists by promoting the new world, the Autokrator would make Pangeus part of the Imperial Republic).

History

Government

Autokrator

The Autokrator is the highest ruler within the Pangean Empire. Beginning with Taodosius I Myksos, who was appointed by the nobility and clergy, laid the foundations of an autocratic government. As sole ruler, in theory, his powers have no limits. In practice he's bound to listen to his nobles, from which the Strategos are the most important and powerful.

Traditionally the Autokrator is the Strateeg of the Central Realm and has the power over vast armies and large cities. However, in case that the Autokrator dies without appointing a successor and the nobles appoint one of the other Strategos as his successor, the Autokrator will not inherit the position of Strateeg of the Central Realm, as no man has the right to have more than one Realm.

Strateeg

Realms

The huge surface that comprises the Pangean Empire made it impossible to rule it by one, central authority. The huge cultural, political and economical differences between the north, centre and south of the Empire made it even more difficult and led to the decision by Taodosius I Myksos to divide the Empire in three Realms: the North, the Central part and the South.

Culture

Religion

The Pangeans are a religious-minded people: their believe, that they brought with them from Micras and is called catologism, is widespread and preached by the catologian clergy. The Catologian Church is the sole recognised representative of the religion.

Central to catologism is the believe in Cato, a wise and sly god who in the beginning was just a minor gods in the shadows of many other creatures, but eventually rose to power. After several Wars between the Gods, which He survived, His worshippers became more fanatic and spread the word.

Hieronymus Erasmus emerged from the crowd and became the Prophet of Cato. In catologian believe, he became the Messenger of the Gods (which makes Him popular with seers and priests who try to reveal more knowledge).

The Goddess Germania, originally a goddess of cult that wasn't part of the Church, became well known as Goddess of Death and Ruler of the Mines of the Afterlife (where those who had to be punished or hadn't lived their life to the fullest potential were forced to work).

From the old Southbatavian stories which the original colonists brought with them, was the one of Sisera, who once was the Heavenly Light of the Southbatavian Empire. Her aggressive stance towards enemies (and sometimes even allies) made Her worthy in the eyes of Cato to become member of the Council of Gods. She became the Goddess of War.
