"La Fiesta de la Boom - 26th of July.

Origins of holiday: The original holiday of the Cult of the Sacred Detonation (formerly Boomists). Celebration: All Shirerithians must attend to a speech by a Vicar or Reverend Mother in the temple space reserved for the cult. The devotees then proceed with a series of more-or-less controlled detonations which achieve the dual effects of delighting the crowd and sacrificing a certain preordained number of oxen - the resulting carcasses of which are then roasted for a communal feast."
