The House of Ettlingar Freyu is an ancient Imperial and Royal House of Divine and Elvish origin and Valtian descent, which escaped the cataclysm that destroyed the Isle of Valtia. After the destruction of Valtia the House for centuries had its primary seat on the Mysterious Isles until the latter Days of the Old Tale when the High Realm of Stormark took that mantle during the Conquest of the Heartland.

The House is a prominent international Imperial and Royal Dynasty with ties to several monarchies of the High Table of Micras and wealthy beyond belief. Throughout times the Ettlingar Freyu have also ruled, and still rule, over several empires, kingdoms, principalities and prominent fiefs all over the globe.

Etymology

Ettlingar Freyu means "Descendants of Freyja" in Froyalanish and Wintergleamish, which signifies that the House descends from the Goddess Freyja. The House of Ettlingar Freyu descends from the Lady Divine Freyja through Her daughter Hnoss.

History of the House

According to legend ancient beyond the memory of woman the House of Ettlingar Freyu was founded when the Goddess Freyja left a basket with a Valtian chieftain called Heiðlindur Gunnleifursson of the House of Hjalteyri with an infant and a treasure of gold, jewellery and precious stones worth a small fortune in it. There also were notes in the basket explaining that the babe was a descendant of Hers called Björka Hnossdóttir and destined to great future as well as providing detailed instructions about how the infant was to be raised. She also commanded the Jarl Heiðlindur to raise the child as his own. The name of the infant was Björka Hnossdóttir and she is the progenitor mortal of the House of Ettlingar Freyu.

House Laws

The House of Ettlingar Freyu has always been governed by its own laws, traditions and customs. It is nowadays chiefly governed by two dynastic documents: the Pact of Flóðhǫll and the Law of Ettlingar Freyu. The former is a Family Pact, the latter is nowadays an Act of the Althing of Stormark.

In addition - and subordinate - to the Pact of Flóðhǫll and the Law of Ettlingar Freyu, each of the Branches of the House of Ettlingar Freyu has its very own laws, traditions and customs.
