House Mortis

Note: House Mortis should not be confused with the Line of Mortis, although the two are somewhat associated.

History

The history of House Mortis begins in 3912 ASC, when in Imperial Decree 445 Kaiser Mors VI dissolved the Duchies in the Great Reclamation. It was this decree that established the first Houses, whose membership had already been established through considerable negotiation, and among them were the Major House of Tosha-Straylight, led by Malliki Tosha, and the Minor House of Mortis.

House Mortis, alone of the Houses, remained a commoner House, without a titled leader, as it sought alliances with other Houses. The increasing dominance of House Kalir led Mortis and Tosha-Straylight to associate more closely with one another. Finally, in 3941 ASC, the two Houses merged into the present House Mortis. The combined citizenship of the greater House allowed Mortis to become a credible rival to Kalir's primacy.
