Biography

Adam Anushiruwân Hilding Ayreon-Kalirion ibn al-Majeed bin Sathrati of Waffel-Paine (born 1630) is an Elwynnese prince and Natopian nobleman of Royal and Imperial Rank. He is the eldest son of Queen Noor of Goldshire and her late husband (and former Natopian emperor) Nathaniel. He was allegedly involved in the death of the Kettei Emperor during the Euran war. After the first, violent, phase of the Walstadt Crisis, Adam forfeited his title as Lord of Zauberförde while he and his mother were both expelled from the island. However this proved to be only a temporary setback as a reaction against King Welf quickly gathered pace, which saw Adam, at age seven, acclaimed as Lord of Walstadt by the Natopian Frenzy (legislature).

He is the reigning Count of Anmutstadt and Count of Upper Macon (all in Natopia). From his membership in the Royal Family of Elwynn he is also entitled to the titles Prince of Elwynn, Count of Northshire, Count of Arietta, and Count of the Lady Esther Isles.

Education

At the age of five he was enrolled into the Youth Boarding School of Walstadt's Jugendinternat, a notoriously spartan educational establishment influenced by Jingdaoese political values, catologian religion and morality, none of which prevented Adam from acting as judge, jury, and potentially executioner, in the trial and death of the Kettei Emperor. Much of Walstadt was burnt to the ground and subsequently demolished after the enforced departure of the Blutwasser dynasty, bringing Adam's involvement with that institution to a premature end.

Following that interruption to his schooling Adam was enrolled at the School of Erudition in the county of Amity, Mirioth and So-Sara that was founded by her aunt, the Emira of those islands, Isabella Simrani-Kalirion. As his many titles and positions require Adam to travel frequently on official business, the School of Erudition has also provided him with a personal tutor to help shape his personal development.

Angularis

In 1639 Lord Adam was invited to join the year long expedition of the Count of Ran, in his capacity as Arandur of Alalehzamin and Utasia to the Vale of Angularis. The sons of Miranda Simrani-Kalirion, Daniyal Anders (aged 10), Frederik Anders and Royston Anders (both aged 9), fostered as pages in the household of the the Count and being of a similar age to 'Little Lord Cleaver' were offered to Lord Adam to serve as his squires on such hunts as may occur.

Appearance

At 1.4 metres in height, Adam is unusually tall for his age group.

Personality

Adam was a happy child until he was sent to the Youth Boarding School and witnessed the events of the Walstadt Crisis. It has been alleged, but never proven, that Lord Adam was encouraged to swing at least one of the blows that resulted in the eventual decapitation of the Emperor of Jingdao. As a consequence he has been known as 'Little Lord Cleaver'.

Polite and proper in his conduct and deportment, Lord Adam remains aloof and apart from his age group, preferring the company of his servants and hunting dogs. An enthusiastic young naturalist, Adam enjoyed fox hunting and penguin shooting on Walstadt, and has been promised a place on a wolf hunt organised by the Count of Ran when he is old enough. Adam has been taught that culling the old and the weak is an integral part of population management and conservation. It is a lesson he has taken to heart, although his tutor was obliged to intervene when he began applying some of those principles in the classroom.

His experiences have taught him to be watchful of people, especially strangers, and as a consequence Adam can be hesitant to show trust. He is not quick to anger but his displeasure is invariably sharply felt by those who incur it, sooner or later.

Academically he has shown promise in the humanities and also with languages, and can be unusually persuasive for his age when speaking, although he struggles with anything beyond basic numeracy and the times tables.

Relationships

Although he never really knew his biological father, Adam has regular contact with his mother, as well as his aunt Isabella and step-aunt Miranda. His step-father, King Noah, is also known to take an interest in the boy's upbringing. When he first heard of his step-aunt Fjǫrleif of Amokolia having performed several executions on her own in her native Stormark, Adam began admiring her. Whenever he meets her, he asks her to tell him stories of her executions and battles. She also educates him in the art of swordcraft and other martial arts.

His closest personal attachment outside of blood kin is to his private tutor, Miss Yara Rose of the School of Erudition, who in addition to those duties acts as a confidante, bodyguard and surrogate mother.
