Batavia

The Batavian authorities banned parties from taking part in the election. Instead, the only legal party was the open-list Loyal Batavian Legion (Joint List) where candidates were marked either loyal or disloyal. 1 candidate marked disloyal was elected. There was considerable protest votes by the Batavian voters by campaigns to spoil votes. This campaign appeared successful with 25% of all votes cast being deemed invalid.
