| ==History==

| Natopia was founded on August 23, 2002, by [[Joel C.]], His Supremacy,
| |
| [[Aaron P.]], and His Sovereign Excellency, [[Nathan Shepard]]. Natopia
| |
| was founded as a fictitious city in the clouds. Around September, 2002,
| |
| Nathan Shepard stumbled across [[micronation]]alism on the internet and
| |
| reformed Natopia into a micronation and appointed himself Grand
| |
| Chancellor. When Natopia was first organized into a state, the
| |
| territory it claimed at the time (the Mehlville School District) was
| |
| divided into 5 administrative districts, Regions. The leader of the
| |
| Region of [[Dracoheim]], Dragonmaster Scott F., requested his Region be
| |
| granted sovereignty. The independent nation of Dracoheim broke away
| |
| from Natopia sometime in October 2002. Natopia and Dracoheim both
| |
| entered into the Natopian Confederacy to keep the mother country and
| |
| Dracoheim on good relations. Soon after, Dracoheim fell into complete
| |
| inactivity and was reabsorbed into Natopia and the Confederacy fell.

| Internal Natopian history was unremarkable until a redraft, issued by
| |
| Grand Chancellor Nathan Shepard, of the constitution granted excessive
| |
| powers to the Senate. The Grand Chancellor then appointed all citzens
| |
| of good standing to seats in the Senate and Natopia experienced a boom
| |
| of internal activity. Natopia's foreign history is marked by two early
| |
| wars. Almost immediatly after Natopia was reorganized into a State, the
| |
| [[World Domination Society]], an organization in the area that Natopia
| |
| claimed, declared war on Natopia. After months of stalemate a tentative
| |
| peace was reached when both Natopia and the WDS vowed to stop gravity.

| This occasion is celebrated on Anti-Gravity Day. Months later former
| |
| Minister of Domestic Affairs, [[Emily S.]], refused to follow the Grand
| |
| Chancellor's decrees and was thus exiled. In reponses, Emily founded
| |
| [[Emilyland]] and declared war on Natopia. A cease-fire has been
| |
| reached but Emilyland will not accept Natopian pleas for a peace
| |
| treaty.

| During the war with the WDS, Natopia became active in Micro-nations.org
| |
| and joined the Splendid Union of Microstatia. Natopia is proud to be
| |
| the first Council to join the [[International Association]], besides
| |
| the founding Council, the Republic of [[West Overbrook]]. The [[Free
| |
| Juice and Bagels Party]], which enjoyed branches in nations such as
| |
| [[Lavalon]] and [[Alrodria]], was founded in Natopia. Natopia is a
| |
| founding member, and current presiding member of, [[SPEAR]], an
| |
| economic, cultural, and military union between the [[Dinarchy of
| |
| Antica]], the [[Solomonic Empire of Attera]], and Natopia.

| On July 29, 2005, the Imperial Government of Natopia abandoned all
| |
| traces of a republic and became the Sovereign Imperial Kingdom of
| |
| Natopia. Grand Chancellor Shepard relinquished the title of Grand
| |
| Chancellor and crowned himself King of Natopia. The main structure of
| |
| the Imperial Government was largely unaltered during the Natopian
| |
| Transition.

| ==Government== The government of Natopia operates under
| |
| [[lindstromism]]. This is the political theory that all executive and
| |
| legislative power is given to one person. Judicial power is given to
| |
| another person, who has the ultimate authority to end the life of a
| |
| tyrant that abuses the executive and legislative powers.

| Natopia's current Imperial Government has 3 constitutionally | |
| established branches. The executive, composed of the King, several
| |
| Ministries and the Prime Minister, the legislative, embodied by the
| |
| Royal Frenzy, and the judicial, the High Royal Court. Natopia divides
| |
| its territorial claims into [[Demesnes]] that are administered by
| |
| Knights of the Order of the [[Black Hole]], an Order reserved for the
| |
| most outstanding Natopians. A demesne's status depends on the Knight's
| |
| status. If the Knight holds the Rank of a Duke, then that Knight's
| |
| demesne is known as a Duchy. Knights have total control over their
| |
| demesne with the understanding that they may not violate the Royal Code
| |
| or Royal Constitution.
