The demesnes of Natopia are provinces, subdivisions, or sub-national units. A demesne is considered a "top-level" subdivision, with only the Imperial government over it. Some demesnes are joined together as demesne unions which legally function as a single demesne while retaining the some reserve rights for the constituent demesnes.
