| ==The Republic of Verelexia ==

| The Republic of Verelexia was founded in June 2003 by a small group of

| students interested in politics, who wanted to see if they could run
| |
| their own (small) state. The Republic of Verelexia was thus founded as
| |
| a constitutional republic under the charismatic leadership of
| |
| [[Benjamin Gray]], who held the position of President and Lord
| |
| Protector (essentially a secondary but permanent president)
| |
| The Republic later considered seceding from the United Kingdom of Great
| |
| Britain and Northern Ireland and for a short time had "annexed"
| |
| territory in London, making the homes of its citizens embassies and
| |
| consulates. More patriotic members of the Republic however opposed this
| |
| move and eventually Lord Gray revoked their citizenship as Lord
| |
| Protector, claiming that they had undermined the constitution. Other
| |
| members renounced their citizenship.
| |
| The Republic was left alone for some time until the "Rebirth". Gray,
| |
| now an [[Attera]]n citizen, rewrote the Constitution, limiting the
| |
| powers of the Lord Protector and allowing for a freer society. A
| |
| website was created, consisting of one webpage containing a link to the
| |
| constitution and Gray's e-mail address. After some e-mails from
| |
| interested potential citizens, a website and forum was built and went
| |
| public in September 2004.

| Verelexia has in the online micronational sector however been mostly
| |
| unsuccessful. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court has failed to | |
| respond to any of the President's e-mails and the other two citizens
| |
| fail to post on the forums and have expressed a lack of interest in the
| |
| nation.

| == The Future of the Republic ==

| The Republic has essentially become an egostan however there are hopes
| |
| to revive it and make it into a proper state. There have been some
| |
| talks with micronationalists about how to resurrect the nation, and
| |
| applications for citizenship are still accepted. The Emperor of
| |
| Alexandria, formerly [[Madland]], has offered to merge with Verelexia,
| |
| but given what happened regarding [[Antica]], the offer was declined.

| == The Third Republic ==
| |
| Verelexia was resurrected in December 2004 with an emergency
| |
| presidential act dissolving all legal institutions save that of the
| |
| Office of the President of the Republic and the creation of the
| |
| Constituent Assembly, an organ comprised of all Verelek citizens tasked
| |
| with creating a new constitution. The Constituent Assembly was called
| |
| to order on Wednesday 8th December 2004.

| == Death ==
| |
| After the EzBoard attacks of 2005, Verelexia's forums were completely
| |
| wiped out. Given the general failure of the country, partly due to
| |
| having no specific purpose or culture, a generic constitution, and no
| |
| active citizen base outside of a few "multi-nationals", it was decided
| |
| to close down the Republic and it is now dead. The founder has since
| |
| left to create the [[Stratocracy of Treithar]].
