New page

Anarchy 21 was a micronational terrorist organization that operated during 2003, inflicting considerable damage to the discussion forums of various micronations, including such prominent ones as Shireroth and Baracao. The organization was founded by micronationalist Hoefensfill, who carried out the majority of the attacks, though it had a strong partnership with the Republic of Politika and Robert Silby.

Founded on January 14, 2003, Anarchy 21 was created with the purpose of providing a "check-and-balance organization" designed to keep "hard-line" micronations government under control through use of force. Typically, the characterization of "hard-line" was freely applied by Anarchy 21 itself, though most often the micronations were on less than amicable terms with the Republic of Politika.

The Attacks
The first attack by the organization came on January 16 against the Kingdom of Babkha using an EzBomb platform which flooded that micronation's general discussion forum, causing minor damage. Four days later, on January 20, the Imperium of Menelmacar was attacked, but only minor damage resulted after Menelmacari officials were notified of the impending attack by Atteran and Babkhan security officials. It was later revealed that the Menelmacar attack was merely a test-run for a new modification to the EzBomb created by Hoefensfill.

Following the Menelmacar attack, Anarchy 21 disappeared from daily micronational life until February 8, when it launched an attack on the Imperium of Nova Roma, a micronation created by Edward Conway. The attack was purposely done in an amateurish and poorly-effective method using an outdated version of the EzBomb under the request of Politikan security and intelligence in order to provoke the Imperium into launching a war against Politika (the two micronations had strained relations at the time).

On February 13, the organization resumed its more serious and effective attack strategy. The target was the Republic of Baracao, with the attack being one of the few carried out without the knowledge of Silby (who was a citizen of Baracao in addition to Politika). It was the most damaging attack carried out by the organization, with the entire Baracaoan general forum record being wiped out in a matter of hours overnight. On February 18, a similar attack against the Imperial Republic of Shireroth yielded similar devestating results, though efforts to prevent total loss of data in Shireroth's general forum met with some success. In both cases, Ezboard was contacted and both forums were eventually restored to their full pre-attack status.

On February 25, Silby was involved in the overthrow of the government of the Commonwealth of Puritania and subsequently gave control of its forums to Anarchy 21. Having gained control over Puritania, Anarchy 21 fell silent and no further attacks occurred; however, it would eventually delete the Puritanian forums.
