Happy Shirerithian New Year/Day of the Dead! 2008 is over, and what a year it's been! We started with Kaiser Mors the Redeemer's successful attempt to wake the nation out of its year-long slumber, then moved on to the tumultous reign of Kaiser Hasan the Betrayer. He led us into a war with Bosworth, a new economy, and closer ties with Babkha. After a near civil war with the Jacobites, the crown passed to Ayreon the Quiet, who kept the peace and earned many friends despite the constant questions over his legitimacy and the later self-exile of Babkhans from the realm. At last the crown passed to Kaiser Loki the Long-Awaited, whose reign was mostly peaceful - until he exposed the faultlines in the government with his controversial Jacobus Amendments. And now we have Reynardine the First, the possible election of a new Praetor, and a new recwar on the horizon.

Oh, and there's a new flying-island based country led by Harvey Steffke. The Nelaga Territories says it's not meant to be a Flying Islands of Jasonia clone, but MALARBOR DOUBTS YOUR SPURIOUS CLAIMS OF DIFFERENT-NESS!! You may see a lot of familiar faces there if you stop by, but Malarbor does not resent a bit of citizen-poaching among friends!

In other news, there's a recwar a-startin', Will Tomsett doesn't like Matt from Ocia and wants to make sure you know it, someone claiming to be the ancient Shah Babak has shown up in Babkha and halted their plans to dissolve the country, and there's a new issue of Liam's Royal Institute of Micro-Antiquities Journal out.
