MN.net is dead

Some of us said it before (however we hoped the GSO would die and not MN.net itself ;) ) but MN.net is declared 'dead'.
An age has end (it doesn't make difference for me but maybe for others it does?).

The Babhkans can't stop being evil and temperory host GSO on their own forum. Ultimatly they all will die (I mean the map organisation that split from MCS, not Babhka). :demon
Maybe this is a bit unrespectful, sorry for that. That wasn't the meaning of this. :(

Really is the end of an era. The MNN was much more than the GSO. In days long gone, it used to host the MCS, as well as all sorts of other organizations, and be the only place where people from all the different micronations would come and talk. Now that the MCS is on a different forum, it's taken over some of MNN's roles, but MNN was the original and the best. Iain (and his team) deserve a lot of credit for keeping it going as long as they did.

I hope that any attempt to replace MNN takes the MCS forum into account, and gives us a change to re-merge the two communities.

GSO does seem to be dead, but I won't believe it until someone cuts off the head and drives a stake through the heart. Hesam has a proposal for a simulation that looks darned impressive, but I don't see why he couldn't do it just as well on the MCS map. I really think the problem is that there's too much lingering bad blood for the GSO people to take the obvious choice and go to MCS. I hope that we can end that bad blood, but I don't know if either side is willing to step up and try it.

Why in the world didn't they pass it on to , folks like Jess, Jonas, Prodigy and the next generation?

I have some web space (and I can buy some more so that wouldn't be a problem*) but you can't ask me to support an evil organisation as the GSO. :p

*: Err... how much webspace is needed to host it?

Jonas,

Take a chill pill and then explain to me where you got that idea.

Chill pill? It wasn't meant agressive. If I'm really angered you would notice it. The only time I was annoyed (I mean seriously, not played or something like that) on this forum was when Hesam betrayed Jake (and that was because he had lied against us*).

then explain to me where you got that idea.
Good question, because you are from Stormark... a Dutchman (I thought a lot of Dutch people 'lived' there).

*: In my eyes Hesam lied to us, I don't want to open a discussion about it. ;)

I'm not concerned about the GSO. There was a ton of other stuff on there, the wiki was closest to my heart of course. A lot of good times, a lot of bad times.

I managed to get banned from MNN three-ish times, and then ended up winning a FNORD.

How much $ are you talking about, benkern?

Your not a real micronationalist until you have gotten banned from MNN.

Not necessarily
Though considering I wasn't an avid MN.net forums user...

Webspace is honestly rather cheap in the grand scheme of things.

Of course, but I remember the MCS had issues with our old domain. Anyone remember micromaps.org? The price was insanely high to get it renewed apparently. And since micronations.net has always been bigger than the MCS, I think they might have the same problem, only worse. It's not a matter of "can we afford it?" but "are we really gonna pay that, even if we can?"

Yeah, but that Wikia site is frankly a tiny bit tacky... most of it is lifted off MicroWiki, hence all the broken links...
Naah, I'm going with ShireWiki or MicrasWiki (which I personally think should be consolidated, but oh well).

I think it's best that I'll return the pages I deleted (read: made invisible to anyone but administrators) on ShireWiki one day... once I'm less drunk than I'm now...

I'm not completely pissed... in fact... my fingers are starting to feel somewhat less numb now... I only rate myself as 60% of completely pissed at the moment.

Well, I copied a ton of MNwiki stuff over ther to save it from vandals. I wished I'd've done more.

EDIT-

Well, I restored the deleted Shirewiki articles that I could find. Anyone who wants them should remember they are as they were in Nov. 2007, for the most part.

MNN pages are starting to show up on Internet Archive.

http://web.archive.org/web/*sr_1nr_30/h ... tions.net/*

I can't get much out of this. Maybe someone with more skill/patience could.

Iain gave Spangle the whole database to put up .... but Liam made Spangle take it down (while promising that the majority of MN-net Admin would, yes, put the archive up sometime). They seem to think its breaking copyright to have someone else put it up, and aren't fond of Spangle for some reason ....

The good robots are starting to work. I was able to salvage one article so far (copied it to Wikia microwiki).

Framework stuff is coming up.

You'll probably find it easier to view the two archived sites and the original board via the links on this page: http://micronations.net/archives/

There's no wiki to link to, other than the other wikis, as the One Wiki was reportedly corrupted. Reputedly, any resurrection will be down to the will of the Gods.

Patience, then. We went through that with Shirewiki, and must hope that the good bots and spiders are successful :document .
