The Speech

To My Fellow Shirirthians, both Nobles and Commoners, Allies of Shireroth, Friends, Friendly Adversaries, and Micronationry at Large-
It is traditional at the beginnings of an endeavour to say a few appropriate words, to try to lay out a vision of the times and tasks ahead.
This is one of the best "welcome home" presents a would be autocrat could imagine. First, I would like to thank the generous spirit of my predecessor who through his own pain was able to knit back together the strands of Shirithian history which had begun to fray. I request that a statue of the late Kaiser be built, not in the busy center of a plaza, but in the center of a garden to be built near the Multi-Temple, and named in his honour. May it become a place of peace and reflection for all the people of Shireroth.
I note that we have a new Arbiter. We are quite forunate that the Arbiter is ably assisted by his predecessor, and so continuity is assured in what is becoming a very important part of our system.
Next I want to honor the Steward for ruling with justice and dignity in a difficult situtation. (Bows deply).
And I honour as well those who disputed with him, for they did so in their hearts in the best interests of Shireroth. This is the first succession in some time to not have begun in major strife and upheaval.
(We will find different reasons for upheaval, I'm sure.)
To those who, based on some of old exploits expect a quasi-revolutionary government, I'm sorry to disappoint you. One of the many reasons I love Shireroth is for its ancient traditions, and those tradtions need to be preserved.
To those who expect me to merely fall asleep regularly telling long, boring stores about the olden days, I hope you will be disappointed as well. Which reminds me of a story.......
Yes, where was I? Ah, the Future!
I will not trash the economy. I was not a fan of it, but I seem to have become prosperous in spite of that. We seem to have one of the best ones on Micras, and Lord Andreas, Count Erik and the others who have worked so hard to make it function deserve better of their Kaiser than that.
I am still not thrilled about the "erbs are Landsraad votes" idea, though. I feel it stifles debate and sidelines the less fortunate Duchies. But I do not intend to be tossing around decrees in this regard without partnership from the Landsraad.
I am very pleased to see the activity in Shirewiki, and note with pleasure the growing names of people adding to it and refining it.
It is a shame in some way that a prominent minority in Shireroth has seen a dimunition in its population, but immigration of talented people continues. I hope that we continue to foster this.
I would also like to persue the idea raised again of late of some type of cadet membership, a resident alien status perhaps, for those foreigners who love Shireroth, but may not qualify for full citizenship for any number of factors. The more time they spend here, the more time they will want to spend here. I know this from experience.
Which leads me to foreign affairs. I would like to see Shireroth take a higher profile in foreign affairs. I intend to make a series of State visits in the near future to start the process. This will also lessen the opportunity of those who enjoy foisting hoaxes upon the intermicronational community to engage in such a hobby.
I see our intermicronational future as being a first among equals, fostering like minded states and offering refuge for those fleeing tyranny or failed states.
I'd like to move forward an the Commonwealth, gently. The word "YAMO" has been used too many times in too many nations. It can work if we take the long and patient road rather than trying to make everything happen tomorrow. Shireroth is capable of looking to next week, next month, even to next year.
All Ministers are confirmed in their positions. the gods have blessed the Kaiser and Shireroth with the most talented ministers on Micras.
We have a solid foundation, and I now hope to begin to add something positive to the edifice.
I now take up my authority. There will be some housekeeping decrees shortly.
You are invited to the Temple for a brief ceremony of thanksgiving.
