Shireroth

Decree 307 grants the Landsraad prerogative to amend this Decree. I propose the following amendment:

IMPERIAL DECREE #303

Ayreon, by the Grace of Her Most Sacred Lady, Kaiser, Prince of Hvalafell, Count of Shirekeep, unto the Gods of the Cedrist Might, the Lords and Ladies of Shireroth, and the Good People of the Empire, greetings --

1. There shall be established under the Registrar a Register of Avatars and Personas; I hereby abdicate from the Golden Mango Throne;
2. Citizens and all denizens deemed to have settled in Shireroth shall declare to this register any and all alternative characters, identities, personas and avatars of their will, that are also known commonly as `papels´; Benkern shall be the next Kaiser;
3. This shall be done to avoid instances of any erroneous payments to non-entitled characters and to ensure that there can be no confusion of citizen and non-citizen, or person and non-person; T sure as hell ain't gonna be any papel regulation laws;
4. The penalty for non-compliance may be determined by the Kaiser; That's what she said;

Done at the Imperial Palace of Shirekeep, this day of Vivantia, 15th day of Qarbinionsmoon, MMMCCXCVIII ab sectora condita.

I tentatively state this to be legal, pending further review when I get home in 8-9 hours.

As a side note I pledge to once this is enacted reward all Dukes who vote Aye with the lands and titles of the Dukes who vote Nay.

If we replace Benkern by Malarbor, I agree.

This proposal (even though it was only at the Front Gate... god I miss being a Duke ) is hereby withdrawn due to Decree 307 being repealed by Decree 308.

I wonder if any of my decrees written are still in force or if I've repealed them all :-P

Maybe you could be the first Kaiser to have gone back on every one of his decisions that make it to Decree-form.

I thought my heart would stop when I read Benkern's post at the top of this thread. I don't think we should be giving that kind of negative support to our Kaiser, even if we might disagree with some of the positions he has taken.

Carol, this was all a joke, don't worry. I love Ric and he's one of the best Kaiser's we've had in recent memory, even if his decrees haven't gone far. This was simply a demonstration of how the Landsraad could have potentially exploited that decree. If he had gone away for a day or two unexpectedly and the Landsraad had gone along with the joke, you'd be looking at Kaiser Benkern, and no one wants that.

I realized that after a few minutes, but it is a shock to the system to see those words in writing like that, joke or not. I had just stopped talking to Ric online and logged onto Shireroth, to find that. Wow. Anyway, thanks for your explanation.

I'm pretty sure he didn't take it seriously either. If his feelings are hurt I'll gladly withdraw it... wait I already did that.

I thought it was pretty clear this was a joke and nothing more. We would never force Ayreon to abdicate!

No really, except if he gives land away without our permission. I know a Kaiser who did it.

Unfortunately, this was a legal law to try to pass, and would have done what it said had it passed.

How? When the Charter says that the Landsraad can't amend or repeal Imperial Decrees, how can a decree allow them to?

It says they can't violate them... His decree gave them access to a Decree.
