The tax bill was passed, that means taxes in a weak, because after paying all those ex-stewards the Crown is broke ...
Tax on each Duchy (of 100 erb) on Tuesday 19th August.

Tis a week.
Hopefully I'm taking these things from the right accounts ...

Kildare - 100 - Saenad
Brookshire - 100 - Mike Fors B
Elwynn - 100 - Ardy
Straylight - 100 - Ari
Yardistan - 70 - Prodigy (30 credit given for Jacobus' stuff, and thats the last of any stuff pre now being paid)

Crown now has 589 (though I don't know if we still have the 150 from Yvain that should go to Scott or not ...)

I'll be honest. 30 erb for what Jacobus did really is... a bit of an insult. But when he started he didn't do it for the money, Yardistan can easily pay, and the government's going bankrupt, so I think we can live with it. :thumbsup

I'm doing 30 because I'm considering a lot of it 'Stewardly Duties' and what, arguably, he was paid the 400 for. ;)

Fair enough - that was excessive. But that was going to the Jacobus Fund Charity and the paltry 30 erbs was going to Yardistan's tax fund, so I'd naturally prefer if one had more than the other. :whip

What happens when you don't pay taxes?

If I'm not mistaken, you can't refuse to pay taxes. The assets are seized automatically. If you try to withhold money, you could be prosecuted.

If the Duke can't, we hunt down everyone else in your Duchy. If none of you can ... then we prosecute. :document

Couldn't you dis-establish the duchy?

Why? They get no money for that. Besides, only the Kaiser and the LR can do that.

Like foreclose the Duchy and auction off its lands to other Duchies? Or have other duchies buy their land so they don't have to be foreclosed on?

I think the Kaiser smackdown would have much more of an effect if the old Duchy's lands were immediately distributed to other Duchies.

That would be an interesting result... *considers encouraging runaway government spending and taxation*

Not when it's the same tax for everyone rather than by percentage...
