Heh... sorry... just my ego working against me, I guess.. uh...
OK, how about Wave Manifold? That's one sanct that I never really had much to say about. Well, OK, there's something. It's... mathematical. You know, not the Egan-style "
so these guys never amounted up to anything except they found some really nifty theorems" (pdf), but something more like "you know, maybe we should take
new math and actually keep hacking at it until we get kids that mathematics is a natural thing for".
You don't actually have to mention a single lemma if you don't want to, of course, it's the consequences that matter: With a good basis in mathematics, the locals are going to be a little bit more analytical than the common guy, and since the
HONIS is most often a mathematician (in-simulation the HONIS is chosen from a pool of Straylightian academicians, although I haven't yet figured out how) the place is going to be a bit of a rarefied "seat of Straylightian power"-ish thing sometimes (with a lot of people descending from previous HONISs and such), and people are probably going to be a little bit more musical than elsewhere (since there's a lot of links between music and mathematics). And on the other hand, the locals might prefer stable, rigid social structures, etc.. That kind of thing.
Could you work with that? I just want to set some kind of a recognisable theme for each sanct, so even if you just do random micronational/Shirithian/Straylightian stuff, I want there to be *some* kind of a background to cast it against. The stuff I just wrote basically just came out of the word "mathematical" and how I'd expect a sanct that could be described as mathematical to turn out.
* looks at your new post *
Oh, McCallavre! That one came out of the proximity with Kildare. Basically a succesful "huge pointless merger" personified. You know what it's like... well, actually, you weren't around when the Apollo sector did those things so you aren't... so: Mismatched, overlapping, sometimes incoherent, but then again the merger *did* succeed, so it's really getting quite solid. Still, there should be a whole bunch of infighting, strife, oppression of the lower class through economical means, that sort of thing. Agony over the fundamental meaninglessness of life in the richer parts, tonnes of fish guts in the poor parts. Oh, and do me a favour and put in some theme park depictions of Shirithian culture, please. You know, the kind of thing where a local would come on board, look at it and go "wow, they sure got that wrong". No particular reason for that, I just thought the idea would suit that place
