Apparently (don't know how reliable these radio shows are) some people don't fully understand the economy ...

So, ask your questions here. Our technicians are eagerly waiting to answer them.

What's an economy?!??!?!

Right... as it stands... how is the stock exchange going to work? The thread is so confusing.

Well, I missed the whole development part, so the first question would be... uh... how does it work? :knife

The stock exchange doesn't work yet. We still need to figure out how it will.

Economy as a whole - People get given a starting sum based on their rank. After that, you have to earn the money yourself. Eventually you'll get stuff from the government for cultural development, but for now that's not totally sorted. You can start a business though (I know I've gone through several transactions myself). Your money is tied to your Duchy's Landsraad vote - the more erbs in your Duchy, the more powerful its vote.

Stock Exchange - we've decided to abandon most legislation and let Erik do what he wants, and see how it works.

Hopefully I won't fail. I plan to run a free market stock exchange, let people set their prices and negotiate trading on their own.

OK answer me this one... the Shirebank permits transactions down to a one-hundredth Erb denomination, but what is the official name for one hundredth of an Erb? I see no mention in the relevant bit of the Lawbook.

If there is no name, I suggest we avoid "cent" at all costs, it's common and bland as cod... might I suggest "Erblet"?

I think it would be good if we simply had .01 of an Erb. It wouldn't be called anything. You'd simply say "That's nought-point-nought-five Erbs please mate" or just "That'll be point-nought-five".

I suggest the word "Ear". 1 Erb = 100 Ears.

For the Duke of Yardistan, that's a very Straylightian idea...

Actually, if you want Straylightian ideas, you could always use the pon, aka piece o' nift :). The value is defined as equal to one nifty-sounding Latin saying (by decree sometime before ASC 1915), but we could always use it as the word for a hundredth of an erb...

I always intended that we had no name for it. Just a decimal.
