[Wintergleam] Request for Payment

To the Minister of Trade:

Your Excellency,

In accordance with the provisions of Imperial Decree 282 I hereby request 200 erb to be paid to my account for I was Duke of Froyalan at the moment the said Imperial Decree was issued. (I did not have a bank account at the time.)

I hereby also request the monies a Duke was granted by the Kaiser for putting his militia at the disposal of the Imperial Government during the war with Bosworth. That was 20 erb I think.

Was the money for just putting a militia at disposal, or for actually fighting?

It indeed was for simply putting the Ducal militia consisting of the various County militias at the Imperial Governments disposal.

It was for fighting the war, and was the result of a decree. Warranted if you ask me.

Your Excellency,

In accordance with the provisions of Imperial Decree 282 I hereby request an additional 200 erb to be paid to my account for I was appointed Steward by Imperial Decree 286.

Hesam can correct me, but I'd be of the opinion we don't pay out short term (less than a week) stewards. I mean, during the civil war Jacobus declared Liam and Jess stewards. Should they get 200 erb too?

I know you weren't doing this to cheat the system, but others could. I think both Stewardship and Dukedom have to be long term to be paid out ...

A citizen who achieves a higher status within the hierarchy of The Imperial Republic Of Shireroth (as stated in Article 5 of this decree) shall be issued an allotment of currency according to their new rank.
Your Excellency,

Your stance goes against the provisions of the Imperial Decree. Nowhere the Imperial Decree mentions that one should a hold a position for a minimum period to be eligible for a pay out under that Imperial Decree.

I, furthermore, did not resign from the Stewardship but ceased to be the Steward in another manner.

However, the decree also states clearly that it is .... oh, wait, that's Yvain's Fraud bill.

However, I have authority of interpretation (under the Kaiser and Arbiter). My interpretation is for precedents sake, it would be best not to pay ... (because I do not want to encourage the "lets make every member of the Duchy a Baron for a day or two so they can get more money for us", much less the recognition of Stewards in time of civil war ...)

But, Andreas, Harald was a duke of long-standing, not holding the position just for a short while. I don't know exactly when he became lesser nobility, but it seems to me he is right in requesting this payment.

Oh certainly the Ducal payment, he has received that. I refer merely to the Steward payment.

I apologize for inserting myself here, then. I was under the misaprehension that the payment referred to his ducal status.

No apology needed - I've made similar mistakes before. I always value your input, Hypatias Mom.

Honour,

Is this issue solved then? Or do you require action on my part?

This issue is far from over, believe me.

Well, there are two options.

One is we pay you out, but make clear the circumstances of your ascension so this doesn't spark a host of other payouts. Thing is, if we pay you out now, if you ever become Steward again for a proper length of time, you won't get anymore money. You'll have been paid out forever.

The second is we don't pay you out, and make clear that it's not because lack of competency or legitimacy on your part, but because Stewards come and go during civil wars and we only recognise people who have held the post without dispute from the population for at least a week. That makes the precedent clear, and someone of your talents will surely rise to Steward again, and be able to receive the 200 then.

I would prefer this option.
