I had an interesting dream last night

Ok... apparently I landed in 2079. Not only was my dream self saying that it was 61 days in the future... but that wasn't the strangest thing. The thing that caught my attention was that, in my dream I was chased by the police because I didn't have this device planted in me. I ended up running into a home, and thankfully found a spot where I could barely squeeze into and not have any one able to get to me. I was safe.

In this future people were implanted with a device that drained out emotions, leaving people with just the concept of Darwinism. Yet some how everyone lived in harmony. Eventually I had to leave that crook in the stairway to get food. As I did I decided I'd find a new place, after getting a bite to eat. Upon leaving and being a few blocks away, I ran into a couple with a little girl, I told them that I could babysit their child for them. They agreed and let me live in their house so I could work as a nanny. Oddly enough, the mother looked a lot like my teacher from fifth grade.

Later in the dream some people were kicking some chickens and a rooster saying they were useless. Lectriece ran forward and told them to stop, they looked over at her, yelled at her and hit her. Then I ran to her; after wrapping my arms around her and kissing where she was stuck I shared my thoughts with them. Then the dream skipped to a new scene. I was in the house watching over the child when I got a text. A recipe and a grocery list scrolled on the screen of my cell phone. I then picked the child up so she rested on my hip and walked out to grab the things we needed. When I got there, Gilrean was there, only she was older, but some how didn't look to be 71 years older. Instead she looked to be only in her twenties, maybe even early thirties.

Picking up a bottle of Coca-cola I noticed that the bottle was thicker, wider, and not really made of plastic, but a new material. The logo looked more sloppy... and it had a saying on a bubble at the bottom of it. The Sprite bottle was the same. I stared at it for a while, until Gil said that the saying at the bottom was something that George W. Bush's grandson said. Apparently, he was president now. After getting the groceries I went to get shoes, I asked if they carried 5 1/2s there. To my surprise, there was a very large selection, unlike how now it's hard to find. These shoes had buttons on them, that when pressed changed shape to better form to your feet, and better suit your needs. They also changed colors.

But when walking home... with Gilrean still beside me, I noticed how little trees there were. But so many of the houses had perfectly preened gardens. There was also more side walks, and the roads were wider. There were not a lot of people going around, the cars emitted bubbles, and floated a little off of the ground. (Yeah... my dreams get creative sometimes)

Then it moved a new scene, I was in front of Lectriece, who like Gil, looked to be in her mid twenties. She told me how apparently I died a long time ago, I killed myself when I was caught by the police. On the way to the hospital to have the device implanted into me, I committed suicide. Lectriece then told me she had something to tell me, but she only have a few moments to do so. I asked her if there was something wrong. She went to say something... but my alarm clock went off and I woke up, hearing the words "it's too late".

Some how... I found that dream interesting... and perhaps... it really did happen? What if the world is doomed to something like that?

Someone has been watching Equilibrium me thinks. But featuring a future President Bush in a negative light just suggest's you're a democrat. :p

I'm inclined to agree with Ardy, my initial reaction was Equilibrium. :D

I do like a good old 'Epic' dream now and then... they display levels of creative innovation only otherwise available via potent narcotics.

Lol, when honestly, I have never seen Equilibrium... at least until now. I'm finding it rather interesting.

@ Gil: Actually... yeah. o.O I didn't recognize you really... in the future every one was athletic or looked as though they might be models. It was really weird.

I think you will find Fahrenheit 451 has similar ideas, albeit more concerned with the future suppression of critical thinking rather than emotions as such, indeed hedonism is actively encouraged in an effort to supress rationality, a trope the book shares with 'Brave New World' by Aldous Huxley.

Lol, and yet I disliked Fahrenheit 451. It bored me for some reason... I think it was just the style in which it was written though. I skipped a few chapters here and there. Enough to pass the test.
