Yvain Imaginings aims to be Shireroth's top supplier of graphic design solutions, collecting Shireroth's top artists under one roof. It will work as one of those employee-owned companies (to make Krasniy happy :) ) with myself keeping the majority share and each employee getting a stake of about 20% or so. Right now Scott is the only employee because I am working with him on his Project Quetzal. Once we get more business, I may start hiring other people.

This is going to be a labor-intensive business and we're not cheap. I'll want around 20 erb for an easy commission, 50+ erb for a medium commission, and arbitrarily high for something next-to-impossible like Quetzal. But for your erb you'll be getting the best that money can buy. I will post a portfolio after we're done with Quetzal.

We specialize in cartography, but we can also do flags, webpage graphics, symbols, coats of arms, vehicles, and pretty much anything except people (I don't have Poser or any similar program yet).

Benkern owns 5 percent!

How about we give you a 20 percent share in Omega Ltd.

You're in. You get 20% stake, which is meaningless right now because I have no idea how the company is organized. It sounds like we should distribute profits according to stake, but just giving the money to whoever draws the pictures would be easier. I don't know. Think up a corporate government and I'll sign off on it.

CURRRENT SHAREHOLDERS:
Yvain Wintersong (60%)
Scott Alexander (20%)
Krasniy Yastreb (20%)

A pay-per-job regime for the artist(s) concerned sounds like a good way forward for now...

The only two problems are that it makes stake meaningless (not really a problem, but it does look official to say I have a 60% stake), and that there's no system for deciding which artist gets which job yet.

How about... the customer can choose the artist (according to specialisation or whatnot), and payment for the job is divided in two; one half going to the artist, and the other half going through the company account to be distributed to employees along stakeholder lines. A bit complex, but it's the only thing I can think of apart from pure dividend.

Osman-Almagro Industries would be interested in a collaborative venture. Yvain, I'll PM you some "samples".

Because the 75 erb commission is clearly going to start an inflationary spiral, I'm doubling prices until further notice. Those will be 100E each. I suggest you get a contract from the MOMA and then subcontract it to us; if it's for official government business, I'll give you the 10% discount.

Check the minitrade regarding inflation. There is nothing to worry about.

I'm still raising prices. I was charging low prices on the assumption that the small amount of money currently in the economy was all there would ever be. Knowing that the Crown has 5000 erb and is giving it out in huge spoonfuls for writing stories or become Duke or Baron or anything else changes the equation handily.

Better for me! I can raise prices while holding quality constant! :D

See, here's the thing though. You're approach is basically a consumer focused service. Where as my approach is a government contract company. Both have their values. I will likely get more money short term, but you will make more long term.

And Omega will not make money :(

All depends Jess. There is no point creating a company if you can't see a potential income. If Omega is making graphic designs, and so is Yvain's company, then there is direct competition. Now you have two choices: You can either do it better , or you can change your market. Either way it benefits Shireroth as a whole since competition breeds better quality goods. And a diversified market breeds more extensive culture.

Yvain ... I have a problem. Consulting the economy bill, as I suspected, companies are only allowed one owner.
7. Companies
Citizens wishing to register a Business within the Imperial Republic Of Shireroth must register within the Ministry of Trade. They must state who the primary owner of the company is and is limited to one owner. Profits gained by the company will be deposited into the owners account and distributed by the owner as they see fit. Companies engaging in international trade are forbidden to exchange erb with a foreign currency, or give erb to non-citizens of The Imperial Republic Of Shireroth unless otherwise stated by The Kaiser or by Act of Landsraad.
The way I read it, the main reason for one owner is so that all your transactions go through one account, because letting you all register separate accounts on the bank for each of your businesses is madness.

That being said, once the money reaches you you can distribute as you like. So I'm approving your registration on the grounds that YOU are the sole owner. The company can view it differently if they want (and certainly can have a scheme that other members of the company get a share of the profits) but the Company must officially refer to you as their sole owner.

Also, approving on the grounds that I'm still due one free image from you (though I can't find the coupon at the moment) :thumbsup
