We just got a bunch new people, and they all went to 1 Duchy, all well and good I suppose.

But in the future we may want to encourage some spread. Right now we have a HUGE yardistan compared to the rest of the Duchies. The MiniImNat might wanna consider encouraging the more even distribution of citizens. Hell, maybe if enough people came to brookshire we could unmerge Goldshire from it and set it up as a Duchy again.

I did suggest that any new citizen displaying anything resembling homicidal tendencies be fast-tracked to Elwynn.

Erik--There is no separating this group. They are friends, hang out together, come and go in activities together. They also requested to stay together. In future, I agree we will separate people into less-populated duchies, but that did not seem possible in this case. And , yes, I am sensitive to the larger than normal population of Yardistan at present.


And, Ardy--the tendencies you described were discussed when contemplating separating them. I will definitely keep your advice in mind for the future.

"Encouraging" some spread? Three people asked the new guys to join their Duchies, two of them light heartedly and before saying "Go Brookshire". I'm not sure we can do anything more to encourage spread than hiding the boards of the overpopulated areas of Shireroth. Or we could force people to move, Russia style.

Alternatively we could boom Brookshire, give the lands South of the Elwynn to Yardistan and the lands North of the Elwynn to.. well.. Elwynn.

Actually, this is partially my fault. Although I have a good reason for keeping Glirean from joining Brookshire...

Fine but Elwynn takes the old Goldshire.

Erik mentioned possibly reconstituting Goldshire. Instead of carving it up further, why not do so now that we have such an abundance of active members? We basically need a couple of experienced people and a couple of new ones to run a duchy--If I remember correctly, the number was a minimum of four. I would love to see what some new people could do with this old duchy.

We barely have enough to justify Brookshire right now...

I am aware of this painful truth, Erik. But I still contend that carving up my former duchy would hurt its chances of eventually being reconstituted when the population justifies it. I feel sad to see some of the oldest duchies hurting for active citizens.

He has asked her to "marry" him here in Shireroth. Therefore, they would undoubtedly wish to be in the same duchy.

Come on people! Ever heard the phrase "personal union"? A Duke and a Duchess married! A Babkhan mindset would really help here. The first thing we did when Babkha woke up in that dreary proboards called Nea Hestia & Alkhiva was form a clique called the Jahandar Clan to oppose the GC. We spread out over many Ostans and took Satrapal seats where the Shah approved to boost our power, we didn't all coop up in Alkhiva.

True, but Babkha is alot less Federal than Shireroth.

Problem there is that there's always such a crowd of "come to my duchy!" people around all the time that there aren't a whole lot of immigrants who remain neutral for long.

As it stands we can't implement hasan's voting system since Yardistan has like half the national population. And thus all the money that comes with it.

We could implement it. Then the voting would go the way it's meant to go.

It's no one's fault. As Carol said - a group of friends joined, they wanted to stick together, one of their number already lived in Yardistan.

Give them Goldshire, rename it? Though Brookshire would lose a member we have in Lunaris...

If we're gonna be crazy and redistribute lands, I'm willing to strip Yardistan down to solely the Holy Lands (and Lac Glacei, 'cause that doesn't really have much going on).

(Edit: Thanks to Mike Fors, Lac Glacei has much going on! I meant territory-wise! )

Though, if it's only the Holy Lands, it hardly works as a Duchy... one Barony... still better than Elwynn I suppose.

I don't support Duchies made of people who we don't know for sure will stay around and who don't really know what they're doing yet.

An easy solution might just be to lease ca to Brookshire until things become more balanced. According to some strands of fictional history, it's in a complex condominium agreement with Brookshire anyway.

If Jess and Mikey agree (and indeed Brookshire want it), I'm cool with that.

I can always be bribed with a bit of land.
