Imperial Decree no. 289

by Kaiser Ayreon
IMPERIAL DECREE

1. Succession

1.1
Should I be away from the Empire for more than three days, without having designated a steward, the Landsraad shall elect one.

1.2
Should I be away from the Empire for more than three months, and have shown no sign of life for that period, the Landsraad shall in a special session, which the Arbiter shall attend, declare myself dead

1.3
Should I die and there be no steward in Shireroth, or there be no designated successor or heir, the Landsraad shall convene to elect a Kaiseress or Kaiser to rule the Empire. I ask that, while genealogical issues may be considered, that the Landsraad elects the most suited person for the ascension to the Golden Throne. While I declare the Landsraad to elect a kaiseress or kaiser, it is my personal, not imperial, wish that the assembly should strive for consensus, or near-consensus, rather than a majority vote.

2. Hasan Kalir

Although grateful for his loyalty to me, my claim and law, I decided to come to terms with Hasan Kalir and his alienating behaviour towards other citizens of the Empire. I invited him to render his abdication as duke of Elwynn.

By my hand signed,

Ayreon
Kaiser of Shireroth

Fishday 8 Biternionsmoon, 3264.

I find it odd that I am being held accountable for decisions made by the Kaiser Hasan. If we are to go by out of character references, then my final decree also gave me immunity to such decisions. However, for the benefit of the state, I accept the terms and resign as Duke of Elywnn. As my last wish I leave the Ducal Throne to Ardashir, unless His Majesty vetoes my decision.

The Kaiser is not bound by old imperial decrees. This decree effectively repealed the immunity provision for you.

:surprise

Surprising!

Though not too surprising given this is Ric. :p

Edit: That was a bit vague. I meant this decree is surprising. It pleases me. And I said it was not too surprising because Ric is such a nice guy.

Congratulations, Ardy! :)

I'm sorry for you, Hasan :(

Isn't this your second Imperial Decree 288?

That's really harsh about Hasan, and not entirely pleasing to me from a simulation standpoint. But at least it proves you've got a political will of your own and can be tough when you want to. Oh well, he'll always be welcome as Baron of Greater Hyperborea.

They are messing with the Decrees. And it's all the fault of that repealed decree 286! :angry

Uh oh, Ardy as Duke?

---

From a simulation standpoint, the Hasan Kalir was a different person from Kaiser Hasan. They just share the same lineage.

As I said, I discussed this with Hasan Kalirion before I took the decision, and after we had discussed it thoroughly, he was invited to abdicate.

So I loose my political seat, My name, and basically any recognition of the work I attempted to achieve while Kaiser. All for exercising the one right I was guaranteed by law as Kaiser. Nice.

Oh, wonderful. Now both Hasan AND Jacobus are upset and feeling like they've been cheated. I guess that means in some cosmic way that the outcome has been fair and unbiased. :rolleyes

Not your fault.

Welcome to the Kaisership! I can't remember, way back when I became Kaiser, exactly when I realized what I was going to have to put up with for the next three months, but I have a feeling you've realized it already :)

I don't feel cheated. I think considering the circumstances, this was inevitable. But I think Ric should look at this and see what happens when you attempt to work for what you think is right. In the end, Shireroth is in one piece, it has a good Kaiser and its activity is high. I consider my Kaisership as a success.

I note a violation of Godwin's Law, followed by a violation of proper contraction usage. Probability of imminent smackdown: 70% and rising.

Yeah, I remember that post. Do me a favor and taunt Graius a lot about what a failure his term as Grand Vizier was. He deserves it.

It's not polite to discuss such things. But, in retrospect, I believe Benkern would have been a better GV. (since I voted for him Shhh!)

I might have been, but I love being for once the guy on the outside sniping. MCS, NB, it's all people (mostly Lovelyites) attacking everything me and my compatriots do. Now it's my turn to the be Lovelyite. Anyway enough about Babkhan politics, we might scare away the mooses! :moose

To be fair, if you'd gone the Babkhan route and not disclosed your reforms before the election you may well have won.

Yeah the whole turn the place into a republic thing was a bit of a turn of. Shame really. The military coup after the Tudeh election victory would have been as much fun as a disputed succession.
