Roy is a surname. I think.
Leroy is a surname definately.

Not necessarily in the States. I know of a lot of Leroys who use that as their given name.

It's both a Christian name and a surname I think.
There are lots of names like that. Like... hmm... oh... well we all know they exist, just none spring to mind right now.

Trying to distance myself from racial stereotypes as much as I can, but Leroy is used quite a lot as a black male christian name, whereas Roy is just pretty universal.
Can't say I've seen them as surnames that often, Leroy more than Roy certainly :P

I did not discuss this. However, your observation is correct. I have usually seen it in this particular community, and few other places.
